Central location, modern quarters in a working monastery Easy to reach via gps by entering the street address, hotel also provides good e-mail instructions on final approaches if you ask, apparently at the electronic gate a few 100 m before the hotel, you need to phone for access, but for us it opened automatically. The rooms are very modern, large and very clean with tiled floors throughout, a beautifully equipped well lit bathroom with white granite and tub/shower, curiously no hair dryer but.

An old Benedictine school converted to a hostal, the rooms are humongous and newly furnished with all the latest in hotel fittings. An abbey with a small community of nuns is to its left and to its right is an albergue where the credencial or "passport" for the Camino de Santiago is issued. Most of León's historic sites are within half an hour's walk away. No better place for pilgrims on the Camino who wish for a bit of luxury onc. We enjoyed our overnight stay at the hotel section of this coverted Benedictine monastery. The hotel section and the augburge section are adjacent to each other. It is about 15 minutes walk from the bus station and less than 10 minutes walk toe cathedral. We attended the evening mass at the chapel in the hotel with the Beneditine nuns singing beautifully. Everyone was friendly. The pilgrim lunch was great with good wine. It is quiet and clean. Great location in an old monastery overlooking a cobbled square near the centre of this ancient pilgrimage town. The basement is where the walkers on the Camino have their dormitory. We stayed in relative luxury upstairs. Breakfast was good and, best of all, we had free and secure parking at the back of the monastery. Will return!. We had a beautiful, modern room in this renovated monastery. The view over the square was delightful. Breakfast was included in the price and very good, they even provided gluten-free bread for one of us (we had warned them in advance). The free parking was useful if a little problematic. There was significant noise from the floor above early in the morning as guests prepared (we guessed) to walk early in the Camino. It didn't bother us too much, though, since we had to leave early, too. The noise from the restaurants in the square late at night. Nothing. The hotel is within the pedestrianised area of the city. Arrival by car is problematic as you need to find the correct entry point to the old city and then telephone the hotel so that they can operate the rising bollards. We parked within the modern city (free between 2 & 4) and walked to the hotel to check in and get instructions before bringing the car in. Everything was very simple after we had done that. Hard to find even with a GPS. There is a garage very close by. You may have to ask direction of how to get there like we did. There is only one small inconvenience - wifi is awailable only near reception and near/in restaurant. A little hard to find. I easily made it to the old city but got very lost once inside the bollard. The fantastic staff found me and directed me to the hotel in person. Since the hotel is in a closed area (there are poles and an electronic sensor one must pass) it was difficult for the GPS to find the place, which it considered a "no entry" area. The receptionist at the hotel very kindly found us on a traffic street nearby and took us to the hotel. another problem is that there are no English stations on the TV, and the wifi in the room was so weak we couldn't use the iPad. Nil!. Rien. The rooms have tiled floors and wooden panelled walls so are very noisy, you can hear every noise in the next door rooms. Very hard to find as sat nav gave up . First impressions of the location was dubious but once we had our bearings it was ok and the hotel itself was great. The Hospederia is signposted as Hospederia Monastica NOT Hospederia Pax. Took us ages to find it. Nothing. Excellent in all respects. Getting in to park the car. Hard to find by car as is within the pedestrian area of the old town. Ensure you get detailed directions prior to your visit and the staff will drop the bollards when you phone them. Wifi only some parts of hotel. Couldn't reach it by car (procession), but that was not a big problem. noise insulation in room. Breakfast was poor Luckily there is a fantastic coffee and pastry shop nearby.
