  The owners and staff of this Guest House made us very welcome. The room was furnished to a high standard and all the facilities were immaculately maintained. The breakfast was first class and the pool and garden area was perfect to sit and relax in after a busy day sightseeing.   The reception on our arrival was friendly and helpful. Over the last four years we have stayed at several B&Bs, Hotels/Guest Houses in South Africa and the De Hoek rates as one of our best and most enjoyable places. The room was clean and comfortable, well furnished and with a superb bathroom. It had good air conditioning, tv and WiFi. Breakfa... vad folk säger » sts were cooked to order, were delicious and generous and little touches of fresh herbs or roses as table decorations showed how much care went into l - The personal touches were very nice (e.g., turn-down service that included port). Check-in was incredibly efficient -- we were in our room within about 45 seconds. The location in downtown Stellenbosch is fantastic -- across the street from a beautiful church and just one block from dozens of cafes and restaurants. And, of course, it's convenient to tons of wineries. Breakfast was served promptly, was delicious, and included everything one could want. This is a great guest house.

  We were received by Gene with a wonderful smile, vastly compensating the tiring flight from Europe. She made our week-long stay a memorable experience. The breakfast was great. "Our house" had two bedrooms, one living room, a fully-equipped kitchen, etc, just for the two of us. We did not get to try "our" pool in the garden; something for the next... vad folk säger » time.   The proprietor made me feel quite at home, very helpful, kind and alway there when I needed help. It was a home away from home.   Room was large and nicely decorated. The large bed was very comfortable and the room had with lots of windows and a balcony. The hosts put in a lot of thought and effort into making Penelope's Guesthouse a wonderful place to stay at in Stellembosh. Breakfast was excellent. The hosts were charming. Free parking and wi-fi. There's a pool in... vad folk säger » the back. Stellenbosh is a beautiful place to visit. A car is a must to reach the center of town or the wine estates close by. The Guesthouse is loc - We loved our stay at Penelope's Guesthouse. Penelope is a great host, she recommend great vineyards for wine tasting and offered great assistance whenever needed. She offers a great full breakfast with fruit, croissant, yogurt, cheese, eggs, etc.. The breakfast is served on her garden terrace . It is very, very clean. The rooms are very large and well equipped. It was a pleasure to stay at her guesthouse and I will definitly return if ever I we have a chance to. I highly recommend this
