The owners of the hotel treat the place like home, and they are very friendly and accommodating. The rooms have everything you'll need, including utensils, crockery, dish cloths, dishwashing liquid, handsoap. There's also a CD player, DVD player, and 2 huge leather recliners in the room. The wardrobe even has racks for guests to place folded clothes on. Our room opened out to a deck with a set of deck chairs and table that was cleaned everyday by the onsite staff. alla recensioner » This older motel was clean and comfortable, with two easy chairs as well as a table and chairs, kitchen, a large queen bed, and en suite shower. A large parking area was just outside of the room. The location was an easy walk from the decimated downtown area, the Restart shopping area, and the botanic gardens. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We were a group of 15 including young children. Lesley at the office was welcoming, helpful and very patient with our last minute changes to accommodation needs. After a long journey to destination, such welcome kicked start our new venture with good feelings. The owners were very friendly and gave me a free beer on arrival which i thought was great.I was shown photos of the lovely lodge/building they lost in the earthquake which was sad.Thanks for a good over night stay i would recommend Country Glen to anyone. staff were really friendly and helpful even when we discovered that someone in our group had grease on their shoe that went on the carpet. Trampoline for our grandchild was great and pop up coffee place across the road. The unit was clean and a pleasure to stay in and Ian and Pat were incredibly kind, friendly and helpful.I would highly recommend the Country Glen Lodge to anyone who stays in Christchurch. A self-catering motel, excellent apartment with sleeping room and sitting/dining room. Clean, well equipped. Walking distance from downtown. Good advice and support from staff. The Manager was superb as I did not arrive from Akld until after midnight key was under mat of unit and milk in the fridge.Assisted next day with faxing papers re sale of house. Staff were only too happy to help organise taxi's etc. during our stay and were very knowledgeable about the area. Close to the CBD and nearby supermarkets and eateries. Good welcome, decent facilities though not the most comfortable sofa bed to sit on! Christchurch is such a good place to visit even after the tragic earthquake. We were able to stay a bit later to watch the rugby test on our check out day. The room had a nice small balcony. Good tv reception with all the sky channels. Staffwere very helpful in regards my requirements around conducting staff interviews re timings. e.g earlier checkin , later checkout. Comfortable bed. We were upgraded from an executive studio to a one bedroom unit. It was lovely. Lots of space and everything very clean and tidy. The staff was extremely helpful. The room was lovely with a great kitchen and comfy recliner. Even had snuggly robes. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Washing facilities excellent, cleanliness of accommodation excellent. A 24hour front desk does not exist, as the couple who owns the property man the place, so if you're arriving late or leaving early, you'll have to inform them beforehand. A segregated balcony where other guests cannot enter into ours would have allowed more privacy and security. Our bed was a little sunken on one side, probably because the pocket springs were old. Unfortunately, the repair work on the city goes on late into the evening (2230 or 2300) with sawing and hammering. The windows did not keep the noise out of the room so it was difficult to fall asleep until the work stopped. The innkeeper was very apologetic in the morning. It will take a long time for the city to recover, but I think a visit now is still worthwhile. woke up one night with street noise when bar in the area closed but that was minor. Traffic can be noisy. Be aware that the facilities are not quite up to date but they're fine. Firstly, the following are not bad complaints, but more things that could be done to make our stay more enjoyable. Bed had roll together ( two singles to make a double) Need new bed in room 4 No couch in lounge, only two single chairs. Iron was broken Shower head sprayed all over the place and out the door. No issues. We stayed here twice. The only thing that was slightly negative was the shower in the first room. Either had to turn it on after we got in or had water going out into the room if we turned it on before because the shower head pointed at the door. This was a minor inconvenience considering how wonderful everything else was. Nothing. Nil. Some road noise - and construction noise when we were there (this is Christchurch); 2 burner hob, bed was too soft for us (a bit saggy). hard to get a booking due to demand (sic). Lounge chair was broken No airconditioning. Nothing. nothing!. upstairs rooms..no lift. Two times I asked for my room to be left alone as I don't need it cleaned each day. Both times this request was ignored. I even told an elderly lady nicely as I was leaving one day. I had to come back as I had forgotten something and she was in there! I felt like my privacy was being invaded a tad. The paint was peeling at the top in the shower. I didn't like the refill shampoo and conditioner and body wash either, it felt budget :/. Rooms are very tired, bed not comfortable, noisy and over-priced due to the aforementioned. On the main road.
