  The couple that ran the place were really lovely and hospitable. The location is brilliant - very near centre (5-10 min walk) and right opposite a nice cafe / bakery serving bread, pastries and coffee, that is open 24 hours!   We were very lucky to have a room with a view of the coast, and enjoyed the panorama towards Miramare during the day and the sweep of the lighthouse beam in the evening. Such was the view from the spotless and well-equipped kitchen. The thoughtfulness of the arrangements for the kitchen was characterised by the provision of a little bag of coffee ... vad folk säger » for the percolator. The friendliness of the welcome we received on arrival from Anna the receptionist was memorable, and we benefited from her advice - The location was excellent. Right in the center, a 5 minute walk from the main square and the various cafes and bars. The room we had was very large. It had a kitchenette and a small balcony. Perfect for anyone planning an extended stay. The bed was large comfortable. Trieste: The Positive side to my "negative" "Trieste": Not being very "touristy" - one definitely gets to enjoy things as one might do if one was a resident. BTW: Slovenia and Croatia are very close.   The Palace Suite is spacious and is fitted out to a very high standard. Amongst other things both rooms have excellent air conditioning. Servicing and cleanliness were also to a very high standard. Management of the Palace Suite is undertaken by the almost adjacent Hotel Contintentale, where a splendid breakfast is provided each morning.
