I loved every moment we stayed at the Villa. It is old worldly and grand. How could it not be when it was built at the end of the 1400's? To sit in the reading room surrounded by fabulous paintings and soak up the atmosphere sipping their home made wine was the pleasure of the trip. Our room was so comfortable with fabulous antique furniture. Breakfast served either on the veranda or round a large dining table just wonderful. Please don't stay if you want up to the minute flat screen tv, it isn. alla recensioner »
The welcome and help that we received from Paolo and Giovani was exceptional and the Villa was steeped in history. Paolo is a true gentleman and we are fortunate enough to be able to say that at the end of our stay we said goodbye not so much as guests but as friends. We would have no hesitation in returning to this villa again.
A beautiful old villa in the hills above Prato, the Villa Rucellai draws
us back whenever we visit Italy. We think of going there as a stay with
wealthy Italian friends. The rooms have no phones or tv's, but are
furnished with antiques. The garden is delightful! A taxi and train trip
of 40 minutes or so to Florence...
Staying at this elegant villa and gardens is like stepping into the Renaissance. Breakfast in the loggia overlooking Tuscan hills was very pleasant, and conversation (in English!) with Paolo was most informative. It was a refreshing treat to plunge into the swimming pool after a long day of sightseeing in Florence.
The history and the setting are amazing. To chat to Paulo, the 85 year
old owner is just wow!!! The La Fontana restaurant just 1.5km away, was
worth every sent of our €54.00 bill!!!!! Expensive but worth it...
There are some places in the world where your soul can also have a rest, this is exactly this place. Deep silence and the sound of the falling mountain stream, we liked the castle very much!.
This is an amasing place! Imbued with the spirit of antiquity. A lot of green, gardens, small tracks to walk. Ideally for pairs. Very frendly stuff.
This is a 'one in a lifetime' chance to stay in a genuine and largely unaltered Tuscan aristocratic family home. As such it is not to be missed.
Wonderful old world appeal. We based ourselves here and caught the train to Florence and then also Lucca and Pisa. It was great.
it is 600 years old and it is amazing how it is build.nice surrounding gardens, big rooms and a piece of history.very quite too.
Lovely place with nice staff in a great location.
Good to visit Tuscany and having a rest far from everything.

- very cozy.
The beautiful surroundings and the atmosphere of yesterday and
"grandeur".
The atmosphere of the place is amazing. I absolutely liked it.
the ancient feel of the place, and the attentive owners.
The scenery, the environment and furnitures.
Unfortunately the cleanliness of our room could have been better .
The road n is very narrow - single car only..... But if you just drive
slowly you will be fine.
To reach the castle, you must follow the instructions, which the hotel gives, otherwise you can get lost))!.
Advise ringing in advance for detailed instructions, as its hard to find.
Internet access nit the best.
there is no TV in all areas.
- house is not in its best shape, but that doesn't matter for purists.
Payment was a mess.
the shower head,needs replacing.
all guests should be e mailed a DETAILED MAP of how to arrive.
Typical Italian breakfast (no meat), very uncomfortable bed.
