The host, Robert, and his wife were very welcoming. Breakfast on the patio was delightful, as was a lovely small restaurant Robert recommended just below the castle one evening for dinner. We loved the castle, the room was incredibly quiet and the bed very comfortable, plus a large bathroom. If you love antiques, Robert can share some delightful facts. This is a fantastic gem of a place to stay! This B and B is located in a very historic little chateau on a hillside with fantastic views. The tower we stayed in was built in 1109 and lovingly restored to an excellent standard by the current owner. Breakfast on the terrace each morning was a joy!.
alla recensioner » Our host Robert was absolutely fantastic, he gave us so many great tips about where to go in Avignon and on the French Riviera. The 12th century castle is a must see. We were so fortunate to spend sometime in the castle. Robert thank you for telling us about the red rock!. Robert, our host, was extremely friendly and helpful with information about Provence. The chateau exceeded all of our expectations. Breakfast was wonderful and Robert was more than happy to accommodate our schedule. Amazing! What a gem! From the beaufiful Chateau, to fantastic owner who gave us some great tips on what to see and do in the area. Breakfast on the terrace was something!! Wonderful place!. Great provencale breakfast Located very close to Chateauneuf-du-pape. Charming accomodations. The accommodation is very special -as you would expect and the breakfast is very good. Great views, wonderful rooms. The owner Robert is very knowledgable. Amazing chateau. Beautifully kept with very friendly hosts. The location was fantastic and Robert was so helpful. The location is great and Robert very helpful with local knowledge. Room was clean. Leaving Vedene and Avignon. After finding the car park there are no signs to direct you which way to get in to the castle. You need to walk back out of the car park entrance and take the long flights of steps up the hill immediately on the right, 'Monte di Barri'. The castle is then through an archway at the top of the steps on the right, and then up some more steps on the left. There are about 70 very old steps, which wasn't a problem for us but would be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The shower is little awkward to use,. It was impossible to find we're to park and even the front door.We had not expected it to be so difficult.The owner helped us once we found him. The location was not easy to find. Our suite had a bathtub but no shower and when the water leaked on to the floor, water dripped down to the floor below and onto the sofabed. The WC was in a very small area beneath the stairs. There were no dustbins provided. Although it was an experience to stay in an old castle, it seemed very pricey for what we got. The number of stairs to negotiate just from the carpark to the front door with luggage (and we travel light) is a huge effort, 5 minutes to recover then more to get to the room then more to get to the bathroom. We would not have booked if this had been advised. Robert would be better off not including breakfast we excused ourselves 2nd morning and purchased in village.
