Barclay House is nestled in tree-lined Barclay St, just a short walk from the Robson St shopping and dining precinct of Downtown Vancouver, the beautiful Stanley Park and Canada Place. Our room was very comfortable and had separate bathroom and toilet facilities. The room was made up each day with fresh linen and towels as well as complimentary tea or coffee with cookies. alla recensioner » A beautiful heritage home that is lovingly decorated and cared for. You really feel like you are coming home at the end of the day, rather that walking into an impersonal hotel. The location has a really quiet neighbourhood feel, but is in the heart of downtown, so convenient to everything. The staff were all extremely friendly, helpful and made the stay worry free. They even allowed us to use the room for the entire day of our departure as our plane had been delayed and they had a last minu. Barclay House is excellently located for everything the visitor to Vancouver wishes to see. The accommodation is superb, relaxed, friendly, very accommodating owner and staff. We rate this as possibly one of the best places to stay in Vancouver!. Excellent and flexible service. Delicious and beautiful food. Very welcoming but very respectful of privacy. I ran the full seawall in a little over an hour door to door. I walked to the Convention Centre in less than 15 min. I'll be back. The absolutely only complaint was that the description of the deluxe queen room on letsbookhotel.com indicated that the room has a fireplace. It does not. Nothing to dislike. Being on 3rd floor with no a/c was hot for sleeping. portable room unit not effective. Not good for large suitcases after a 2 week trip prior. Windows open without screens. The food was a disappointment, below the high standards set in the rest of the home. The baked goods were stale, and there were too many bread items and not enough protein or fresh veggies/ fruit. The breakfast bruschetta was horrible, I felt embarrassed that the staff had to serve it to us! Also the walls are thin or it's not well insulated so it was easy to hear the noise of other guests. Our room was a little cramped. The washroom was very tight for tall and/or larger people. No choice possible for breakfast and maybe not the taste of everyone as somewhat sophisticated and not European - no real contact with owner but only with Chinese personnel not speaking very well English. Nothing. Our room was listed with a fireplace which was not there. Also, the pictures online do not neccesarily depict the actual room; the room we viewed online showed a jet tub which also was not present. Nothing. Leaving a day early due to change of flights. Nothing. I prefer a sweet breakfast and would've liked bagels and jam or pancakes instead of eggs and tortillas, it was very tasty but too spicy for me for bf. rooms and bathrooms need to be renovated. Simply furnished room. breakfast needs improvement. We had chosen to be fair the cheapest room so I don't wish to be too critical. The room was comfortable but itwouldhave been nice to have a better set up for tea and coffee. The host while very good when we were staying didn't arrange early morning access as we had asked - over it now but awkward start. No table in tv room,nicer to control over heating.
