We celebrated my wife’s 55th birthday travelling by train from Toronto to Quebec City for a 4 night stay at Aux Studios D'Auteuil. The hotel was an excellent choice in terms of location that was walkable with backpacks from the train station and close to all the main attractions. The operator lives on site and was very welcoming. The unit was bright, comfortable, quiet, very clean, and full of charm and character. The location is splendid for sightseeing in Old Quebec City. Studio apartment was cheery and quiet. There's a supermarket two blocks away, if you want to cook in the fully-stocked apartment. The friendly owner may be selling the property after 20+, so check before booking.
Very close to the convention centre, so convenient for my conference. A nice quiet location, with a spacious room that was well equipped with small kitchen and bathroom. Landlady very helpful indeed.

While Aux Studios D'Auteuil was exactly the experience we wanted, those expecting a more main stream commercial hotel may be disappointed. It's really more like borrowing a friend's charming city apartment for a few days. We loved it.
The bed was a little short, and I am only 5' 4".
Little bit noisy.
Despite choosing it because it had wifi, there was v limited wifi in my room which was very inconvenient.
