  The Welcome Stranger Hotel is an old style, great value place to stay in Hobart, and it has Wi-Fi. It is an easy walk to Salamanca and CBD. You can sit in a sunny position by a large window, watching the people and cars go by, while eating breakfast. It is cosy in the evening watching TV and sitting on a comfy lounge by the fireside while eating ... vad folk säger » dinner. We have stayed here twice. The rooms have an ensuite and the beds are comfortable. - The staff at the Welcome Stranger are terrific. They are extremely helpful and very welcoming. We travelled with a 16 month old and found that our room was well setup to accomodate not only the adults but the baby as well. The food was extremely good value for money and delicious to boot. It is also conveniently locate close to all attractions within Hobart.

  Robert the duty manager and the staff were friendly and gave great service with a smile. The location suited me perfectly as I walked out of the dining room across the road and 100 meters later was on the Mona ferry. I had a harbour facing room and it was clean, warm and comfortable. Because it is a refit of differently aged buildings there is a charming "Fawltyness" to the interior. Short stairways, creaky floor - Staff were brilliant. We arrived on an unusually very hot day (and our room was unfortunately on the north west corner). Even with the fan going, we were unable to sleep due to this unfortunate combination of circumstances. In the morning with all other rooms booked, we decided to curtail our pre-booked stay - staff were extremely professional, even offering to cloak our luggage until we were able to make other arrangements.   The staff was amazing friendly. We booked very late on the same night we were staying and ended up showing up after office hours. They not only let us in, but after realizing the room we had booked was not cleaned, upgraded us to a better accommodation for no extra charge.
