Set directly on the seafront at Thorpe Bay, this award-winning guest house is just a mile from centre of Southend. Many rooms offer wonderful sea views, whilst all have free Wi-Fi. The individually decorated bedrooms each have a flat-screen TV, and most have a private modern bathroom with free toiletries. Some rooms overlook the Thames Estuary, whilst others boast a private balcony. A healthy continental breakfast is served daily in the spacious dining room, which features a collection of menus from around the world. Breakfast includes fresh fruit and continental cheeses. Beaches Guest House is situated on the seafront at Thorpe Bay, just a mile from Southend Pier. Free parking is available nearby, and Southend East Rail Station is just a 20-minute walk away.

Outstanding staff, who went out of their way to accommodate us and give recommendations of local places to eat etc. Excellent location on the seafront, 10 mins walk from the pier & town centre. Neat & tidy rooms, with very nice en suite, great wifi and tv. Balcony was fabulous to enjoy the sunny weather!. It was a refreshing pleasure to stay somewhere so clean, tidy, friendly and comfortable. The owners made my stay even better by offering an alternate to my breakfast plan as i had to leave early, and i would recommend this to anyone and i will be returning some time soon :).

Beaches was immaculate The bedding was what you would expect in a top hotel A lot of care has gone into the décor and everything was a very high standard We were given a warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Right on sea front, very friendly and helpful staff, walking distance to bistro and restaurants, excellent continental breakfast. We had a lovely relaxing 3 days and would definitely stay again. I felt like I was eating the continental breakfast buffet at the Empress Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia :-) Thank you for the lovely and friendly experience <3. The owners made us really welcome, they are a lovely couple, so helpful. The breakfast was set out beautifully with plenty of choice, our room was very comfortable. Was a great location, right on the beach and 10minute walk from the main pier, staff were great, breakfast was lovely and the rooms were absolutely stunning. A 2 night stay to attend a 60th birthday party in the area. Very friendly guest house. Clean. Continental breakfast was very good. Would stay there again. Having spent 4 months in Australia, it was nice to spend 10 days in the UK before heading back to our home in Mallorca. We arrived nearly 3 hours before check-in time but we phoned the owner (Mark) and he kindly let us check-in early. This B&B was our last place to stop and it was in a good location for exploring Southend and had a wonderful view over the tidal seashore. Luckily the weather was kind enough to allow us to enjoy a pizza and a bottle of wine sat on our balcony soaking up the v. The breakfast was a good variety of cereal, cheese, bacon, toast etc excellent start to the morning. This was a nice clean B&B with a well laid out breakfast. Our room was a bit small, but we did notice other double rooms were larger, so this could have been the luck of the draw. My in-room supply of tea was not replenished after day one ... meaning I had to wait until breakfast for tea. My room was left unlocked after being cleaned (although I appreciate and understand the usual cleaner was on holiday). Some road noise in front room but lovely to have the view!. No complaints. We liked everything during our stay. N/A. Nothing!. Nothing - everything very nice. A bit of a walk from the main beach and attractions but it was fine for us. Nothng. Because so are such lovely people it's too hard to tell the owners the bed is squeaky and a tad uncomfortable. None. to improve it would of been great to be able to have a area where you could return to to have a drink ie a bar and lounge and it would of been nice to have a cooked breakfast. but very please with our stay and would return. No complaints. Bathroom in our room was a bit small- but usable!. N/A. claustrophobic poky ensuite. No bath - was unaware until in room that there was no bath. Next time we would like a larger room. We booked quite late when the smaller room was the only one available. average room. My wife did not think the breakfast was brilliant. I thought it was excellent though. Depends on what you are looking for in a breakfast. She prefers a cooked breakfast. The bed springs creaked every time you turned over. The shower was not great. Parking. n/a. Shower could have worked a little better. Room not adequately heated. Stayed in december but felt the room could have been a little wamer. Nothing. Nothing not to like. The room was a bit small, as was the bed (standard double) and the en-suite was particularly small. The toilet flush was a bit temperamental. Breakfast times for Mon-Fri are 7:30 to 8:30 which are not very tourist orientated (we missed one morning - we don't set the alarm for a breakfast!). The room could of done with a good paint, the blinds were shut and couldn't open without standing on a chair, toilet area needs refreshing, bed was comfortable, some of the draws couldn't be opened due to tight space, some electrical plugs not plugged in so units had to be pulled forward. Would not book the downstairs front room again as it was by the front door and we were constantly getting woken by people coming in through out the night. Also the road was very noisy - worse when you are on the street level.
