Staying in the camping pod was a great experience, close to nature but with a few creature comforts. They are roomier than I expected, and each has its own heater and bedside lamp; outside there is a light, picnic table and a brick for BBQing on.
The hostel is in a beautiful location with great views over the Dales. It has a well-appointed and clean kitchen, restaurant, dining room, restaurant and lounge. The reception also serves as a bar, serving local Black Sheep ales and other standards. все обзоры »
Lovely old building, very open and stunning views. Clean, refurbished room (beautifully clean carpets, window seats in bedroom, beautiful wet-room) It made me feel like we could take our shoes off in the bedroom and walk around with bare feet!). We stayed in a dorm for 6 with en-suite.Beautiful cooked breakfast and very good evening meal. Very friendly young guy there who made us feel welcome. The pods were spotless, so maybe next-time!.
This has changed my mind of youth hostels! It was exceptionally clean
& a pleasure to stay here. We had our two young children with us so
had our own room which was nicer. The kids loved the entire trip. Great
location if you want to escape as it literally is in the middle of
nowhere but some beautiful sights nearby. Asgarth falls are great.
We stayed in 2 pods which were quite novel for the children. We also had use of all the hostel Tv room, Kitchen, Games room relaxation lounge.
Also there is a on sight café which serves good home cooked food the apple crumble was lovely.....
It was well located for the Coast to Coast and we could leave earlier than in other Hostels so we could get a good start as we had a lot of miles to cover.
We also got a twin room which meant we did't disturb other people by leaving early.
We had a great time in our camping pod surrounded by stunning scenery and a great pub within walking distance! It was warm and cosy and the facilities on sight were good! We'll definitely be back, well worth the money!.
Spectacular location in beautiful countryside. A lovely atmosphere in the hostel, very family friendly with free eggs for Easter painting offered. The camping pod was lovely and cosy even on a cold weekend.
Location beautiful, we have never stayed in a youth hostel before, but this is better than most of the hotels we've stayed in. Much cleaner, lovely breakfast. Welcoming and great facilities. So peaceful.
the view, the peace and quiet, the toys and games for children, the adventure frame to climb on, the great breakfast, the friendly manager who was really helpful with our arrival time.
Fantastic hostel, newly refurbished. Very clean. Fantastic setting looking down into the village. We stayed in the pods, which were great fun - very comfortable, secure and warm.
We stayed in a pod cabin. Were very impressed at size. Ideal for 2 adults and a 14yr old, along with all our belongings. Would definately return.
We like the location up on the mountains and the facility with
cheap rates... Must try 1 of the restaurant n bar at your site next
time visit.
The view ... Breathtaking. Also getting ready access to heather covered rugged Grinton moor and reeth in easy walking distance was perfect.
The location, the children's playground and goal posts. Lots of outside seating. Pods great and had heaters. Children under 10 eat free.
The grinton lodge was a great family friendly place for us to stay whilst travelling to Scotland. Countryside stunning.
Excellent facilities clean and comfortable.
Very friendly staff ,wonderful surroundings and fantastic value.
Everything!! The pods were ace, location has stunning views. The facilities were everything we'd hoped for.
Location, cooking/dining facilities, lounge area, drying room, views, proximity to Grinton & Reeth.
Scenery was gorgeous, hostel clean and tidy, reasonable prices, good facilities on offer.

Good Budget.
Scenery, people, accomodation.
It's on the TDF route!.
Good surroundings.
There was a very large quantity of sheep dung in the pod field.
Nothing at all!.
The beds were all bunkbeds, which the kids loved, just im 6'5"
& dont really fit in! Not a point of dislike just something I have
to deal with & thought I'd mention. They where comfy which
matters most.
The weather something out of the hostels control.......Spring where are you? Other wise everything ok.
The room inside the hostel had lovely views but was a little chilly for some of our party at night. Only a tiny reservation though and it was a very cold weekend.
Men and women in the same shower/toilet room. Bit disconcerting to head over for a shower in the evening and have to wait while a load of young lads stripped off to have a wash! Also didn't know the lights were about to go out when i was in the shower, suddenly pitch black and quite scary. Perhaps a couple of signs on the walls before you go in?.
Breakfast was a little dry!!!!.
Doesn't open til 5pm. Outside bins spilling over and little obvious recycling compared to other hostels. Big pods rather pricey.
That we only stayed one night.
Nothing.
The price of staying in the main hostel was off putting, hence our choice of a pod as we were only staying 2 nights. Thinking about coming for a week next year but could hire a cottage for less than it would cost for us to stay at the YHA :-( Not budget-friendly I'm afraid.
The website did not make it clear that the 'pod'accomodation did not include beds. The staff had to rally round and provide us with mattresses and bedding.
There was nothing to not like.
The walk back up the hill from the pub! :).
distance....
Not ideal location unless travelling by car, hard to backpack.
