The train station is close but nevert - We loved the hotel and the location. The staff was very friendly and unquestionably efficient. The spa was first rate with an amazing pool, Jacuzzi and a northern style sauna. We thoroughly enjoyed this aspect. We made full use of the kitchen facility since we were a couple with 6 (hungry!)college age kids. We cooked all of our meals in the kitchen.   The staff in the Arcare building were very friendly and helpful. Room cleaning and maintenance were punctual and efficient. Front desk staff were very helpful. Restaurant was good and waiting staff friendly and attentive. Hotel bar was good for meeting and chatting with other guests with a very nice and friendly barman in charge. A 5 minute walk to rent skis/sports shop, and another 5 minutes to the Sunneggabahn funicul - 1 min walking distance from train station. Spacious room with a couzy sofa and an armchair, huge balcony for a five o'clock tea; nicely designed bathroom with a window. Slippers/bath gown. Swmming pool, sauna, solarium - all very nice.

  Zermatt was the first place we visited in Switzerland and it was the best experience we had in Swiss. As the first room we checked into did not have a view of the Matterhorn, with Raymond and Gerald's assistance, our room was changed for the second evening of our stay, which had an incredible view of the Matterhorn!   I've been to quite a few hotels around the world and found Hotel Schweizerhof to be exceptional above the rest. I have never ever been treated so friendly at a hotel and felt like they actually meant it. The food was also excellent. So Excellent service, delicious food, and very friendly cosy atmosphere.
