  The pension was spotlessly clean. My room was stylish and modern which isn't always that case in Spain! The bed was really comfortable and there wasn't much noise from other rooms which was great. Pilar (who I think is the owner?) and the other staff were so helfpul and welcoming - they had lots of suggestions for things to do and helped me sor... что говорят » t travel for next parts of my trip. It's really close to the Playa de Conca but in a quiet street so not lot of noise. It's definitely a step up from - The 'pension' is a delight. It is a small, family run enterprise in a back street, about four hundred yards from the main beach and eight hundred yards from the old town. It is spotlessly clean, recently refurbished and well run. The boss greets you on your arrival, sees to your very need and helps you with directions to a private, secure car park facility one hundred yards away. I would go back tomorrow - or whenever I next go to San Sebastián.

  We spent the day in San Sebastian on the worst of possible days: terribly cold, rainy, stormy weather and the famous strike with everything imaginable closed: no bar or restaurant open to get a drink or lunch! Then we got to pension Garate and a most helpful and friendly young lady who spoke English very well welcomed us. The lady booked for us dinner closeby at restaurant Narru (from hotel Niza- an - The room was clean and comfortable. We had a balcony, which was great. The accommodation was in an excellent location, very close to the beach, and walking distance to all of the sights of San Sebastian. The staff were extremely helpful. I was feeling unwell the day after we arrived, and the lady at the Pension directed us to a very good medical centre. The staff also agreed to allow us to pick up our bags late in the evening (after we had checked out), due to us having to catch a late overnigh

  The location was perfect, right in the centre of the old city. The owners were considerate and helpful, allowing us to leave our bags there all day after we checked out as our flight was not leaving until the evening.   I was afraid when I read the reviews before I made the reservation. Well, I belive most of the reviews are made by travelers first time in Spain or San Sebastian. I made a trip to Pais Vasco, I stayed in Bilbao and San Sebastian and this was the best one by far. When I compilmented the owner, who could not have been more helpful, on the quality of the hotel, which I had taken to be a recent build, he told me that it was a 19th century structure which he and his wife had completely refurbished. Chosen because it was a five minute walk from the station where we could catch a train into Donostia and that is why the location is marked as Excellent. - Lovely room, great restaurant, great place to stay on the way to the Pyrenees .
