  Loved the location and the staff were very friendly (I'd say the friendliest we had in two weeks in Spain). Room was clean and bed comfortable. Our interior room was very plain but also very quiet. Liked the signs around the Pension asking guests to be respectful of others and keep noise down. Very close to the old town and all the bars and restaurants but far away enough you don't have sleepless nights from bar noise. The hostel is around the high end stores and it's a pleasure to stroll back to the place after doing the town. You can walk everywhere from it. A small balcony allows you to air the space.

  We spent the day in San Sebastian on the worst of possible days: terribly cold, rainy, stormy weather and the famous strike with everything imaginable closed: no bar or restaurant open to get a drink or lunch! Then we got to pension Garate and a most helpful and friendly young lady who spoke English very well welcomed us. The accommodation was in an excellent location, very close to the beach, and walking distance to all of the sights of San Sebastian. The staff were extremely helpful. I was feeling unwell the day after we arrived, and the lady at the Pension directed us to a very good medical centre. The staff also agreed to allow us to pick up our bags late in the evening (after we had checked out), due to us having to catch a late overnigh

  The pension was spotlessly clean. My room was stylish and modern which isn't always that case in Spain! The bed was really comfortable and there wasn't much noise from other rooms which was great. It's really close to the Playa de Conca but in a quiet street so not lot of noise. It's definitely a step up from - The 'pension' is a delight. It is a small, family run enterprise in a back street, about four hundred yards from the main beach and eight hundred yards from the old town. It is spotlessly clean, recently refurbished and well run. The boss greets you on your arrival, sees to your very need and helps you with directions to a private, secure car park facility one hundred yards away. I would go back tomorrow - or whenever I next go to San Sebastián.
