This was a beautiful traditional ryokan that I would recommend to anyone who wants to stay in traditional accommodation. The room was clean and elegant with traditional japanese furniture and a small balcony with wicker western style chairs. What really made this a lovely stay was the owner who made us feel so welcome and really offered traditional hospitality with tea and cake on arrival and a lovely breakfast. Every time we went out or returned we were welcomed by her - including an umbrel. все обзоры »
This is a truly special place to stay – an amazing location, beautiful old wooden building, and incredible service from the lovely, kind Uemura-san. Our 8 tatami room was a good size, characterful and comfortable. The shared bathroom was never a problem for us (there are only 3 rooms in the ryokan). The breakfasts (both Japanese and Western styles over our 6 night stay) were outstandingly delicious. We were greeted with a tea, a little sweet treat and a warm welcome each day when we came in fro.
I loved the owner of the Ryokan, ms. Uemura. She is just lovely and very attentive. I think maybe she was the cherry on top of the icecream haha. The place is very nice, it`s really her home and very japanese. Waking up in the most confortable bed (futon) i ever sleeped looking at the paper walls was just a dream come true to me. Really worth it.
The place is close to several amazing places, like several temples and old areas. Very close to bus station. The hostel is japanese style, very cosy and interesting. The owner is a very good person and she speaks some english.
Simply Fantastic! The owner is so great and sweet: home made breakfast (Japanese-style is GREAT), and traditional designed hostel can let you to experience relaxing and silent Japan.
Excellent cultural experience in a beautiful small ryokan. Madame Uemura was a Lovely kind, gentle and helpful host. Wonderful situation in the best part of Kyoto.
The lady handling the Ryoken is very nice and careful. You feel at home
very quickly ! Sleeping in a Ryoken is a great japanese experience.
the situation is fabulous, the very best in kyoto if you like old cities; uemura-san is a charming old lady, full of attention.
Loved every moment here!
Perfect location in the Gion.
Wonderful host and amazing Japanese breakfast!!.
Location, location, location. breakfast. Host. History.

Friendly ,good breakfast.

The location
The traditional house.
Location.
The only negative thing was that the room was small & not much room to unpack but all the good things completely made up for this.
No complaints, it was excellent.
We had some trouble finding the place. We went walking from the Higashiyama district and it was a bit farther than i thought, so its better to get a taxi, if you`re very tired. If not, its a very nice walk through Kyoto`s most beautiful district.
But the place is very worth staying!.
I liked everything but the person is interested to stay there must be aware that it is a house not an hotel and that nobody can leave or get inside it after 10pm.
Shared facilities a little cramped.10 pm curfew was limiting.
nothing.
10pm curfew. Tricky to find.
n/a.
The price: too expensive
The little bath.
The fact that Mrs. Uemura changed 6000 Yen for our 6 years old child without mentioning it when she called me to confirm. Also she provided old and dirty slippers we were forced to use. Too expensive. Linens were very worn.
