The town is built on a steep branch of rocks which extends to Balzo della Lezza, unreachable and overhanging the Lima torrents. In order to reach the town, the Lima torrents have to be crossed (via the old Ponte Maggio bridge). The road leads to steep bends upwards, with panoramic views of the Balzo Nero, the Memoriante mountain and to Pesi di Veco Pancellorum and Limano. In the centre of Casoli Val di Lima 14 km from the centre of Bagni di Lucca, 45 km from the centre of Lucca, 70 km from the centre of Pisa, in an elevated position on top of a hill. Public parking is available within 350 m on the road. Grocers, restaurant 50 m, thermal baths 14 km. Ski runs 25 km.
