This 17th-century former coaching inn offers free private parking just 15 minutes’ drive from Crewe’s town centre. A seasonal menu and continental buffet breakfasts are available in the Bear's Head, a wooden-beamed restaurant joined onto the pub. Just 5 minutes’ drive from the M6 motorway, Innkeeper's Lodge Sandbach is a 10-minute car journey from Wheelock Hall Farm. The Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre with its giant telescope is 15 minutes’ drive away and the Peak District National Park is a 25-minute drive away. Each bright and traditionally decorated room has a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. A hairdryer and free toiletries are included in the en suite bathroom.

We only visited for one night to attend a family celebration in Sandbach so didn't really use hotel facilities. However the staff were really friendly and helpful and the continental breakfast in the morning was excellent. The bar and restaurant was very busy and the food looked excellent value. Arrived earlier than expected but our room was available and staff at reception explained the workings of everything-Excellent. The room was well furnished,clean and beds very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and served by friendly staff-all you could wish for. We will return.

Excellent hotel with pub/restaurant, built in 1615 the staff were very friendly and helpful. Set in a small village the restaurant was full all evening from before 6.30 p.m. which is a testiment to the excellent food served. Booked a couple of nights but due to unforeseen circumstances had to cancel a few days earlier. Phoned the hotel and spoke to Warren who cancelled the booking. He was courteous ,friendly and professional. No problem. We had a lovely stay here. The staff were incredibly accommodating, the food was excellent value for money. We had a good sized room for the money we paid. We would definitely reccomend this place. room was clean and comfortable, pub was roomy and easy going. Access was good. Breakfast was well cooked, a bit on the expensive side but was good quality so I guess thats acceptable. We had a warm welcome on arrival and the place had character. Not being able to get a drink from the bar when we returned at 11.15pm on the Saturday night. Even though other customers were still in the bar finishing their drinks. As residents we were disappointed at this decision. Bathroom very clean and functional if a bit dated. But no complaints. Although room was very neat and tidy; the staff could have been more thorough with the cleaning, mostly in the shower area. Also, we had the family room, bit disappointed that there wasn't a bath for the kids. Poor internet connection. Road noise with need to have windows open in summer. Poor bathroom sink planning: shelf above sink prevented you leaning over the sink to wash you face. Very awkward. I am only 5'4" and the sink was positioned quite low. Actual bedroom itself was small and mattress was quite lumpy. When we arrived there was a local power cut. There was no electricity at all until after 11pm and so pub itself was closed all night (obviously the pub could do nothing about this and we were also given a partial refund without even asking). The only downside was that the extractor fan in the ensuite which was activated by the bathroom light room was incredibly loud which doesn't work well when there are sleeping children in the room. Nothing specific. Small grumble; there was no towel rail in the bathroom although you could see there had been one. Window in room 210 appeared to be screwed shut, making it too warm & uncomfortable overnight. Nothing!. Nothing. Cooked breakfast option was undercooked the sausages were raw inside and the bacon undercooked, niether one of the 5 in our party ate much of it. We couldnt find anyone to complain to as there was only one member of staff on and we couldnt wait around for her. It was appalling and unfortunately dominates our experience of our stay. Which is a shame. The quality of breakfast was a little below expectation. Nothing I did not like. More substantial sofa bed in family room!. Whilst there they experienced a powercut and although the staff were obviously not at fault, I dont think they were very apologetic and I didnt feel like they kept us informed. Infact I went down to ask if they knew anything because I was there with my little girl who was a little upset by the darkness and feel I was just palmed off. I wasnt offered any apology or any form of candles etc. Shower cubicle is in need of updating, and the bed is a little bit springy (in my opinion). Having to walk round through the bar to check in. Not much really, if I was being hypercritical, lack of air conditioning. mould in the shower, lacks sound proof floors & hard towels. Cutlery and salt/pepper had food deposits on them. Lacked tight overall supervision. No bath. The hotel looks tired - needs a face-lift inside. Food not good - below the standard we would expect of an inn in this area. Hair-dryer kept cutting out. nothing. Nothing to dislike lovely hotel. Lost some of the olde worlde charm once inside. nothing. Late check-in not possible after 11.15pm. Breakfast has scrabbled eggs on toast, toast more like a slice of bread and meal was very very dry. No blind in the bathroom window - not private, felt very uncomfortable having a shower at night knowing there were windows opposite at a similar height. Tv kept losing signal. Bed to soft for me. Not enough vegetarian opptions on menu. noisy extractor fan in next room. Road noise.
