Castlelodge was the best B&B experience was ever had. We stayed there with our 2 young children who loved the freedom to play outside. The owners were so friendly and welcoming we felt like we came to visit friends, not just staying at B&B. Lovely bedroom, amazing living room with a 3D TV, pool table, very comfy bed, rooms and the whole B&B equipped in everything you would need. Highly recommended

Everything about it - it was a lovely comfortable, warm, friendly and welcoming place to stay from which to explore Hay-on-Wye and the surrounding area. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a really comfortable relaxing weekend, which was what we were aiming for. -

Friendly and efficient staff (we were given print out maps of the sites we enquired about which were really useful.
We also liked the fact that restaurant and Bar food was available, both with a view on the lake - we only tested the Bar which was excellent.
The room, with both shower and huge bath tub, extra large and firm bed - we had an excellent night sleep.
Fantastic view on the lake.

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas and the whole place was so warm, welcoming and comfortable. We'd chosen a bedroom -Cathedral - in the converted stable and it was lovely.
The food was excellent and beautifully presented.
A memorable stay in an idyllicl location. -

I loved the carpet in the restaurant for breakfast, there must be some very thick underlay under there! The choice for breakfast to was fantastic though I do think they cut one fillet of smoked haddock in half and shared it between the two of us! Though it was lovely. We stayed at The Old Rectory for the last night of the Green Man
Festival at Glanusk Park.
After 3 nights of festival camping, anywhere with hot water and a flushing toilet would have been luxurious, but our room (number 14) was fantastic. The room was large and very nicely laid out. The bed was extremely comfortable but the real show-stopper was the bathroom - complete with a huge shower and a whirlpool bath!
The room was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.

The owners were fabulous. Even though we arrived very late they still gave us the full gourmet restaurant service and their friendliness and interest made us feel that we were staying with old friends. - quiet, very nice view, lovely people, very good restaurant

Helpful staff who showed us all around the hotel and provided us with a travel cot. Upgrade to a very large family room. Good breakfast. Can't fault really particularly for the very reasonable price - The staff were very friendly and welcoming and helpful. The grounds with the river running through were beautiful and the hotel was very well kept.

A great welcome, Friendly, Clean, Would have stayed longer but we was booked in across the road at the Craig y nos castle which i'm sorry the rooms are not worth the money at £150 per night but this B & B is 100% Worth the money for £65 per night so me and my husband recommend this totally.
