Excellent staff and a very clean hotel , the current owners have not been in this hotel for very long but are making it a very nice place to stay , they do everything they can to make your stay a pleasant one and nothing seams too much trouble , we did not use the restaurant as the bar meals were good value and the relaxed atmosphere of the bar area was to our personal liking but if we stay again we would try the restaurant , once the new owners have put there mark on the rest of the hotel it w.

Room was cold on arrival and told heating was off, but electric heater delivered to room promptly and problem solved. We both loved everything, there was nothing we could fault. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, the facilities brilliant and the room sumptuous. It was a perfect stay. This is a beautiful old house with an interesting history in an equally beautiful location. Staff are very friendly. Nice tray with tea, coffee and biscuits and a comfortable bed. Talking to other guests there is obviously a high level of repeat business which is good advert for any establishment. In my last post I criticised the hotel for charging me to pay with my credit card , this was incorrect and my misunderstanding ! as no charge was made for using a credit card. I would like to apologise for this error on my part. couldn't fault it. Although the hotel was very clean, our room could only be described as smelling like an old people's home. We were also the youngest guests by a good 20 years! Although described as dog friendly, there were many areas (such as lounge areas) where we could not go. A very jerky lift Bathroom taps, etc, worked fine but dated Room door secure but locks dated. Main lighting not bright enough. Whilst room was very comfortable and clean it certainly did not have the best view. £12 for breakfast meant we didn't bother. Another time we'll opt for B&B rather than room only. Everything was fine. We felt that if breakfast was not included in the room price it was far too expensive. Buttlins at the far end of town. burnt sausage at breakfast . The food at both dinner and breakfast were only adequate. What about a buffet breakfast ?. although the bedroom was comfortable & had sea views I felt the the bathroom was rather cramped & could do with updating. The loo didn't always flush properly. no dislikes. No offer of porterage for the elderly. A bit old fashioned!. Old folks - I am only 73. nothing really. Hotel a bit tired. cooked breakfast not so good. The rooms, of which I saw more than one, fell well below the standard expected, given the cost, as regards quality of furnishings, facilities and general comfort. Old fashioned feel prices off meals. reminded me of an old peoples home. Would not go again. Indifference of Management in that we were forced to change rooms during our stay Superior rooms were not up to standard - this tired hotel is very much in need of a refit Blandness and overpricing of food.
