The room was very nice and well appointed. It appeared to have been recently refurbished.
I arrived at 11.30pm after the hotel had closed and the night porter was friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was really good and freshly cooked.
Before booking, I checked out the reviews and the negative comments put me off but price and location made it the only realistic option for me.
I'm pleased that I chose the Dolphin and I will definitely stay there again when I'm working in the area.

Position, price presentation. A well presented property with an attentive
management. As we stayed over Valentines Day, we were greeted with a
potted red rose and a box of chocolates, a really caring gesture. Our
room (No 10) was adequate for a short stay, but if you were staying for
a week check on availability of rooms with seating. The staff we met
were courteous and friendly and the breakfast was very well cooked.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Only a few minutes walk to both beach and town.
I got a really good rate for my two-night stay and the breakfast was fine.
If you're after a luxury hotel, this isn't for you. This is set up as a friendly, budget stay.
I will come back again, perhaps with the family.
Although I was early for check in, I was greeted warmly and offered coffee while my room was prepared.
It's a comfortable well thought out hotel with nice art and comfortable sofas in the lounge area.
It's a very short stroll down the road to the sea front and only 10 minutes walk to the town.
staff very friendly and helpful especially Leanne. rooms clean and comfortable and well worth the money l paid for overnight stay. close by to marine training centre as l was picking my son up from there from lympstone. . overall enjoyable stay. would use again.
Friendly staff nothing was to much for the staff. Lovely clean homely hotel bedrooms big and airier, and extra things in the room i/e bottle water lots of tea /coffee and milk. Great breakfast cooked to order.
We have been twice and will be going back again.
The warm welcome.
Parking in the area is a problem, but the hotel had reserved a parking space at the rear of the hotel with the use of a cone with my name on it.
The room was spacious and comfortable with a large ensuite with walk-in shower.
The location is convenient for both the town centre and the seafront. The one staff member we met was very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. The room was perfect for us, with both TV and tea/coffee making facilities.
I think this is the cleanest hotel I`ve ever stayed in. Very pleasant staff, comfortable room. Breakfast, although not `haut cuisine` was hot without the slightest amount of fat/grease on the plate, would recommend.
Great staff very responsive to my needs. First night was bad as walls are thin and it was noisy but they moved me to a much better room so fine after that. Breakfast was good. Sense of welcoming ease.Nice decor.
lovely place.so many nice places to eat. Nutwell Lodge is a must for carvery near royal marines. So many lovely places to eat and the dolphin hotel cannot be faulted. Will be returning next year hopefully.
Friendly staff as they assisted Pre arrival with questions about parking
and then they marked a spec with a cone with my name on! Very helpful!

Staff were friendly and very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, with a good shower and tea/coffee making facilities. I would definitely return as it was excellent value for money.
Spotlessly clean and fresh. Rooms comfortable and refurbished to a high
standard. Stall absolutely brilliant. Good location within easy distance
of seafront and town. Highly recommended.

Nothing could be improved

Ensure you ask for reserved parking on site , we did and they saved us a space for free
Excellent value for money.
Warm and friendly welcome, very helpful with reserved parking space as parking locally is difficult, pleasantly surprised at the quality of my room considering that I only paid £50.
Convenient well-run hotel with friendly, helpful staff. I didn't each much breakfast myself, but the full English looked very good indeed.
Room was fine, bed quite comfortable.

The girl at check-in was really friendly and gave us information on the area and directions to where we needed 2 b.
Reserved car parking. Full English breakfast included. Great location for town & seafront, both a short walk.
You are our location of choice whenever we travel to the UK, particularly when we are staying in the Exmouth area.
Pleasant and comfortable accommodation with easy access to both beachfront and town. Generous breakfast.
Good value Very friendly & efficient staff.Spotlessly Clean.Excellent breakfast with plenty of choice.
Friendly staff, good location, comfortable room, decent breakfast, car parking. Would stay here again.
The receptionist was very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was good.
I liked the friendly staff, the location, the comfortable beds and the
lovely breakfast each morning.

Nicky ?Nikki? The server in the breakfast room, being offered coffee
upon arrival.
The hotel was cosy, welcoming and clean.Close location to Ex mouths'
facilities.
The overall friendliness and cleanliness of the hotel and quality of breakfast.
Very friendly staff, clean ensuite rooms, excellent location, good breakfast.
A very l
Pleasant stay with helpfull staff, will use again when in the area.
Inconsistancy. On the first morning our room was immaculately cleaned (+
rose and chocks), towels, (despite no instructions on what to do if you
thought they did not require changing) water, glasses were replaced,
perfect. On the second day the bed had been made and that was about it,
even a glass brought from the bar the night befor was left where it
stood. Unfortunately we were not around another day to see if service
had returned to excelent.
Perhaps a little more attention to the cooked breakfast, but this is a minor quibble.
only drawback was parking. very little room to park on street where hotel is located. staff vey oblinging though in finding parking space eventually/.
Although the hotel was fairly close to various pubs and restaurants for an evening meal, the walk was through poorly lit streets, which, being a women on her own, found intimidating. It was a shame that the Dolphin didn't have evening meals available.
The shower room was quite adequate, although we would have liked a bath as well. The phrase "private bathroom" in your description does imply that the room would have a bath.
The parking`s a bit of a nightmare, but in fairness that`s not the hotels fault, we were able to squeeze into their car park, but it only appeared to have 8 or 10 spaces.
Noisy front bedroom back much better. Some rooms too close to each other.
Exmouth itself has gone down hill. This hotel is much better than most.
nothing.
Price, £102 was expensive.
Noisy road and commercial vehicles parked outside and leaving early
in morning.
Needs a bit of updating.
Double bed was like sleeping on a board and the room smelt as though someone had smoked in the recent past. The water temperature of the shower was unpredictable!.
Nothing.
the deck and the smoking area could be cleaned more often. the ashtrays are full of months old butts...
Small duvet for large bed.
Can't think of anything.
It is avery personal choice but neither my wife nor I found the bed comfortable.
Would have love to have had an evening meal.
i was a bit cold, but i was able to use both duvets!.
Trying to find somewhere to park the car.
N/a.
Parking very tight and limited but at least we had a park allocated on site.
Shower was eco type so only a VERY light spray but did have continuous hot water.
nothing.
Showers have hot water but could have better flow of water.
The shower in my room was very poor with scalding or freezing the only options.
There was nothing I did not like.
nothing to comment on.
Bed was not very comfortable and the lighting in the room was poor. Hotel decor was a little tired in places.
Unfriendliness of person in charge when we arrived (although they did
offer the coffee, and it was lovely).
Our room was recently decorated but not finished off. E.G. no wall
mirror or pictures on the wall. Some tile grouting on bathroom wall.
Radiator did not work.
Little car parking on site but ticket for public car park supplied.
Lots of stairs with luggage.
