Very helpful owner who was friendly and welcoming. The inn has a lovely ambiance and situated in a fairly quiet part of the Lake District, but yet everything was is so amenable. Also, not forgetting some beautiful and challenging walks. Good menu with good food, (recommend the seafood platter). Used the spa which is situated, 10 minutes walk away, which is in a fairly large hotel which can get busy at weekends. The only negative is that due to the good atmosphere in the restraint the noise did .

Very friendly and helpful bar and hotel staff. Nice bar with good menu. Two real ales on from local breweries. Relaxing hotel for get away weekend. Very relaxing break. The owners and their team are tremendous. It's a special small hotel situated in a fantastic location providing fabulous food in good company to discerning visitors. Having to leave at the end of our holiday. the very large and beautiful lounge could not be said to be comfy because it always felt a little too cold. a small log in the woodburner would make a difference. Nothing!. Bar area was very dark. Entrance hall is plastered with explicit sexual sketches of 'Lady Chatterley's lover' scenes: I found this in bad taste. Pop music over breakfast wasn't brilliant in such a tranquil lovely location. One small negative only - breakfast choices were a bit limited. Bar closed a bit early - i went down just after 11pm for water and couldn't get any. Nothing to say!. bit mean with shampoo- need to ask for more as not replenished automatically- not a deal breaker but stops the feeling of top marks- the little thinks count at this level!. Rooms were a little cold. Nothing- everything OK. Nothing the Eltermere is excellent. WiHi should be used in evety hotel rooms. Found our room to be a little cramped - that was the room called Hen Crag. Didn't stay long enough!!. Mattress could have been more comfortable. No light above bathroom mirror. Speaking as a vegetarian I thought the evening food left something to be desired both in quality and choice, and was not very good value. Have a look at what Fellini's in Ambleside provides and at competitive prices. But perhaps veggies are a rarity at the Eltermere?.
