My fiancé and I stayed at Riverside for 3 nights at the beginning of November 2013 and we can honestly say it's the nicest place we have stayed. Dave & Brenda made a point of knowing our names before we arrived, sounds like a small thing but it was the friendly touches at Riverside that made our stay so memorable. We have stayed in many bed and breakfasts over the years. This was the best we have ever stayed in. The accommodation was of an extremely high standard. The hosts, Dave and Brenda, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. They have clearly worked very hard indeed to create a superb experience for guests. Their many awards and accolades are thoroughly well-deserved! What was most impressive was the attention to detail in every respect. The breakfasts were fantastic! Everything precision-e.
Our hosts, David and Brenda, made us feel instantly welcome. They helped us with our sightseeing whilst we were there - making recommendations on what and where to visit. David was very helpful in recommending eating places nearby. Although the guest house appeared to be isolated in a lovely spot by the river, Ambleside is only a short walk away. The service and breakfast provided by David and Brenda were superb.
Our host, David, was so calm and pleasant, that was just what we needed as our tablet's hard drive crashed right before we got there. He, along with his wife had a fabulously organized restaurant guide, and walking guide. I enjoyed their homemade breads and breakfast was delicious. Our first night we bought a fabulous bottle of Malbec from them, sat out in their back yard and sipped our wine, it was great!.
Riverside has an excellent location - a short walk through a park to the center of Ambleside. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay perfect, comfortable and relaxing. There is a large choice for breakfast, prepared and cooked to perfection. What makes Riverside special is the friendliness and attention to detail of Brenda and Dave, the owners.
We really enjoyed our stay at Riverside, the owners Dave and Brenda were fantastic and very welcoming, the value for money was excellent, and the room was missing nothing, great breakfast with a massive choice of all local produce,
5 minute walk into ambleside so in a perfect location,
would stay again in a heartbeat.
David and Brenda are just such lovely, friendly people. They make you feel instantly 'at home' in their superb guest house. It's situated just a short walk from the town yet you feel as if you are deep in the countryside. The breakfasts are wonderful with virtually everything home baked or locally produced.
The home was lovely, very clean , Brenda and David were gracious host, very comfortable bed to rest the aching joints after a long walk in the fell, delicious breakfast, beautiful surroundings and a walking distance to Ambleside town for a little shopping and dining.
