A traditional East Sussex inn in the South Downs, Ye Olde Smugglers Inne dates back to the 14th century and retains plenty of its original character. A cosy fireside bar and restaurant complement the bespoke rooms, which all benefit from free Wi-Fi.
Each room has use of shared or private bathroom facilities, and has a radio, alarm clock and wardrobe. There is a relaxing guests’ lounge with tea and coffee facilities, TV and DVD player.
Full English breakfast is cooked to order each morning from 07:30 – 09:00, using locally sourced ingredients where possible. The pub serves home-cooked food all day, along with an impressive international wine list and fine Sussex ales.
The pretty village of Alfriston lies around 17 miles east of the coastal city of Brighton, with the vibrant centre just over 30 minutes’ drive away. Around 9 miles from both Eastbourne and Lewes, this inn is just 3 minutes’ drive from Drusilla’s Wildlife Park, and 30 minutes from Bexhill’s De La Warr Pavilion theatre and arts centre.
