It would have been a great place to stay, but there was a massive construction project basically in the hotel common area that went on from 8am to 8pm, which was incredibly noisy and blocked the entire river view. It would have been appropriate to mention it when I called to confirm my reservation. Kind of killed the whole experience for me since I couldn't really enjoy the property. The location and the wonderful garden. To fully appreciate the place one should probably have a kind of hippy inside, or enjoy being able to stay there long time on low budget.
For me it was a good experience to stay there a couple of days and to be reminded of, how it was to travel, when you were -quote Hemingway - very young, very poor and very happy.
Clean room, comfy bed. Good location in town. If you want (or need because of heavy rain) you do not even have to leave the guesthouse, you can just hang out on your veranda or in the sitting/restaurant area with nice river view, visit the book store or take a massage. Wifi was good. Nice walking street on sunday!.
The atmosphere in this guesthouse is great!! You can really relax, enjoy the beautiful garden with direct view on the Mekong, the quietness of the city and the lovely people staying there. We only stayed for one night but that was enough too relax before going into the craziness of Bangkok! Enjoy your stay!.
After our first night, everything began to fall into place. Relaxed, trusting atmosphere. Good, quiet location. Friendly reception staff.
Thoughtful organisation. No tv in room (excellent!). Traditional Thai bathroom arrangement. Good additional facilities: massage, river trips, riverboat bar.
Choice of rooms for different budgets, mosquito nets, friendly and helpful staff and information at reception. Nice garden (but not as spectacular as some reviews would suggest). View of Mekong from bed! Very good location, riverside, near to 7-11, and bars.
The atmosphere is relaxed and casual with opportunities to meet other travelers. I liked the honor system employed for food and drink. The food is fabulous and the cooks happy to share recipes. This is the second time I've stayed here.
the food was the best of any guesthouse i have stayed at. they had a muesli option for breakfast which no other place had. the infomation they have of the area and beyond is excellent.
The location was fantastic, right on the Mekong river. I had a lovely
room with a patio looking out over the river. Price was right and the
staff were pleasant.

The staff is ameizing! The Guesthouse is in an ameizing location with a river view and the place it's self as great atmosphere!.

For a longer stay, it would probably not have been my style, as I demand a higher level of comfort, but this is not a critic of the guesthouse, because it delivered what it was supposed to and even more.
Some staff members were really nice, but introduction was done very stressy and quick in our case. Owner was friendly. Quite noisy construction works were going on in front of the guesthouse (end of july). Not the guesthouse's fault of course, but would have been nice to be informed about this on check-in or on the website, and be offered some kind of compensation.
It s a shame that breakfast is not included but you can eat the whole day in their restaurant with an excellent kitchen!.
Building work going on during our stay - obviously this would not be a permanent disadvantage so is scarcely worth mentioning. Rather hard bed and lack of much in the way of bathroom extras (e.g. no shampoo, no hair dryer).
Shower looked good, but was style over function with its pebble floor being a mozzy trap. Strange door design with gaps that allow mozzies in. Construction noise from next door. Boat bar closed much earlier than expected. Food portions looked small - did not eat there as a result so cant comment on quality.
the two rooms that face the mekong should change to a king sized bed or two twins instead of a double bed which only suits two very tiny people or a single. otherwise the beds were great and the ac quiet.
They don't have credit card facilities, which I find odd, even for
this area. They could also slightly reduce the prices of their drinks
(90 baht for a large singha beer which costs 50 baht in town) and they
shouldn't charge for drinking water.
We only stayed one night in route to Vientiane. Had we known about Mut Mee, we would have stayed longer.
One of the rooms was overbooked so we had a room in the next door guest house. Mut Mee did upgrade the other room and charged a lower price.

In our stay there were constructions so we woke up early. The bathroom facilities isn't what you expect to get in this price range.
Building work on the river bank (nothing to do with Mut Mee) so some
noise from mechanical diggers. Lots of long stay/frequent travellers
make the atmosphere a little "cliquey". Not a criticism of Mut
Mee - indeed a testament to its popularity - but solo travellers might
struggle to meet others.
The food is a little bit overpriced, the "müsli" is just a joke.

Smoking guests tend to stay at the hotel, which can be negative for
some, and the ongoing construction work (noise) ought to lead to
temporary discounts.
