You have to be a member of yha to gain the absolute most out of your
money's worth. So become a member, it helps plenty throughout
your travels.
The showers were the best I had in three months of travelling in New Zealand. This was also my last location so I appreciated it even more.
Free wifi!!
Kitchen was roomy enough and had a decent amount of utensils to use.

hostel caters for a range of guests. we were upgraded at no extra costs due to a booking error on my part- really appreciated that. Eco-friendly recycle bins throughout are excellent idea. Location double thumbs up. Kitchens were also great. would stay again.
I liked the friendly staff and could not rate them highly enough. Especially the young guy who served me for breakfast for two days. What a lovely person. I also enjoyed meeting the young travellers - they were very entertaining.
Big, clean, comfortable hostel in an excellent city centre location, very close to a huge selection of eateries and bars. The incredible Te Papa museum is just around the corner. Good amenities.

The hostel is in a great location and they offer discounted public car parking. The staff were very helpfull and were happy to answer our questions. The kitchen facilities are very good and are well equiped. We stayed in a double room which was small but adequate for our needs.

The single room was bigger than I thought it would be. The bathroom facilities were clean.

The room was hot, damp, and smelly. All the windows were on the inside
of the building disabling the fresh air from reaching it. Not that it
would help since the windows barely open at all.
The smell was insane. It made me hop over to the New World to buy air freshener. It helped, but it could be provided. Sometimes if you put six men in a room where its warm and damp, you just added the recipes for a stench.
I don't really have anything to add here except that maybe more toilets are needed.
No on site parking. Parking is on the street a 5-10 minute walk away for free parking, closer if you are willing to pay. No heater in the room, but there was enough bed linen to keep us warm.
some of the rooms were extremely hot and had no possibility of cooling down.
Tired facilities, especially bathrooms.soap dispensers not provided neither in showers not in hand washing basins.
traffic was a bit noisy outside our window in the early morning and woke us up- no chance of a sleep in.
There was no late check out times and some of the other visitors happened to be very rude (cant help that tho).
No tea making facility in room, noisy squeaky door in neighbour's room, couldn't figure out how heating worked.

I could have said on checkout, but my sheet had more holes in it than a swiss cheese!!! But as it hardly detracted from a great stay, I didnt miind too much!!.
There where not enough storage lockers for our suitcases. using the international phones was difficult.
There wasn't anything we didn't like.
No fault of the hostel - they tried very hard to keep things clean -
but the kitchen got a bit grotty at meal time and the bathrooms a bit
gross late at night due to other users being inconsiderate. Not
enough showers.

This hostel is normally very clean and tidy but on our last stay the bathrooms were not to there normal standard, but they were acceptable.

The bathroom all smell really heavy like pie, I tried another floor but was same. Really discasting smell.
No locker there, where I put my staff??? There was some but you have to pay and walk down!!! In a hostel, that's an no go!!!.
The heater was on a timer - this is hopeless in winter and I was quite cold at night time. There was a lot of dust coming out of the heater as well. As an asthmatic I found this quite uncomfortable.
Rooms were neglected, shabby and very hot. Staff on reception were
impatient and less than friendly. Very expensive. Cancelled rest of stay
after only one night.
Comparing with other backpacks on this journay, in this one the service is impersonal..possibly due to the size.
