The motel was very conveneient for us as an overnight stay on our way to Dunedin. We appreciated their appeciation when we realised we hadn't been charged for breakfast and we then arranged for payment to be made. All too often there is no thanks when someone goes out of their way to correct an incomplete payment ( in our case) or something else. The room was warm and the bed comfortable parking very easy so what else could we ask for?.

The Motel is located next to the most stunning views and walks in New Zealand. The owners are absolutely friendly and eager to help. The rooms, floors, bathroons are squirky clean. The kitchenette is well equipped. Two restaurants are just a few steps away. Carla picked us up and when we left she took us to the railway station. She very kindly dropped us off for our 8.30 Dolphin Encounter.Nothing seemed too much trouble. The accommodation was excellent, clean and comfortable. There was two good eating places nearby. The motel was also at the end of Kaikoura nearest the Seal colony. We were pleasantly surprised by Admiral Court. It wasn't expensive, but we had a lovely big apartment, with lounge, tv, sofa, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. It wasn't fancy, but it was clean and functional. The owner was very friendly and helpful and bent over backwards to give us good advice and answer our questions. Unit was very comfortable and clean, Complimentary upgrade appreciated. Quiet location but close to hotel and restaurant for dining. Managers very hospitable and friendly. As we were without a car, they kindly offered transport to and from township/train station.Thoroughly enjoyable stay. The view of the snow capped mountains and the ocean was breathtaking. The staff were helpful and friendly, with excellent knowledge of the local area. If I were to retire anywhere, Kaikoura would have to be the place. Perhaps that not all the tv stations were available, but this was really a minor issue, and could be due to limited reception in that region distant from major cities. It was a 20 minute walk to the main shops which is the only negative or a taxi ride.If you have a car you couldn't do much better . The location isn't perfect - it's a little walk into town (10-15 mins) and it's one street back from the seafront, so there's no sea view from the property. It wasn't a big deal for us though. Telecom has a few black spots in Kaikoura. Unfortunately, this was one of them. No complaints, hope to visit there again. Unstable wi-fi connection, although it was free. no dislikes... The room was smallish and not well-sited in the corner of the site. Nothing. CreditCard payment taken in gbp without any option as I wanted to pay in nzd. nothing. Nothing. duvets too light for winter heater not adequate for room better during warm parts of year. I was disappointed that the studio unit we had was out the back and had no view of the sea. It is across the road from the beach. There wasn't any kitchen facilities. I don't remember if there were any tissues or not, but some tissues are a good idea. Some oil/butter for cooking would be good too so that people don't have to buy a whole thing and only need it for just one meal. A bit out of town, car needed for shops or eating out. Wifi not the best.
