The room we had had a rustic charm with everything we needed for a comfortable overnight stay. It was a close drive to Hanmer Springs, the waterfall track and the mountain track with a view over the Hanmer valley, spectacular. This was our first stay after landing in Christchurch and we much liked the quietness of the campgrounds with the mountains around us. A very beautiful and peaceful stay with the enjoyment of the Hanmer Springs themselves after a days trecking the area.

Room size, all cooking equipment provided. You couldn't hear other occupants, a lot of light from several windows which I liked. No complaints with what we got for the price. Picnic tables past their best, broken and frame loose so seat moves violently when someone on other-side gets off. One seat collapsed with an 84 year old man sitting spilling food. Hand rail up to shower block collapsed while elderly gentleman holding on to it. Great to have bbq made available but produced no heat and could not be used Room six the tea-towel rail pulled from wall as is the door catch. Happy with everything. Nothing really - it is what it is and does not purport to be anything else. They did not mention that you needed to bring your own duvet or blankets, but we survived and will go there again next time we go to Hanmer Springs. Sand flies and mosquitos. Playground could be a lot safer and better looked after. Rather shabby. nothing. oven was not working on our first night..and someone played round with the communal one ..but was fixd the next day..thes things happen.. The communal kitchen facility heating would not work and it was freezing in there even just to grab a bite of lunch while we waited for our unit to be cleaned and ready. This website said our room had a queen bed AND bunk beds but no bunk beds. Place was fully booked and we were the last to check in so no option to change rooms. If some rooms do not have bunk beds then it should be stated in the blurb on the website!. That letsbookhotel.com stuffed up our booking and we got but in a kitchen family cabin not the self contained unit that we paid for. The location, it's about 3 km away from the nice village of Hanmer Springs. And staff wanted to charge me extra for a blanket (none in the room). Only got it for free after arguing that it is a basic essential which should belong to a bed/room. not like the photo descriptions on the net. Toilet wasn't clean on arrival. Toilet brush had poo on it!! Shower flooded whole bathroom. Sink leaked. Not enough dish wash to do dishes on arrival. Linen seemed unclean. Awful service. When rang to say what time we would be ariving, she said she would leave the key out as it was too late for her to stay up (10.30pm). She was very unfriendly on the phone and unwelcoming on our arrical. Room was cold and heater inadequate. Won't be going back, and won't be recommending to friends or family.
