  The staff was very friendly. We arrived on a Friday evening about 10 minutes after the hotel restaurant closed. However the clerk called over and they still gave us a table and prepared a delicious meal. The breakfast was basically a continental breakfast, but it was plenty to get the day started.   This is a very special place. Sleeping in a well-appointed cave was unusual, charming, comfortable and (welcome during a heatwave) cool. Beautiful bijou-garden setting, with interior design reflecting artistic flair of Alain, the very obliging and helpful host, who also served a superb breakfast. We would have disliked carrying our bags back up to... o que as pessoas dizem » the car parking space higher up the cliff, had not the Alain volunteered to do it for us. Apparently he is planning to install a lift within the next - This place is amazing - the rooms are luxurious (we especially loved the Victoria room, with its massive bathroom and shower), Alain is the most genial and interesting host. Breakfast is full of homemade treats - and good coffee! This is essentially a family home/estate which has been lovingly restored. The area and the town of Azay-le-Rideau are very beautiful, and convenient for visting wine producers too.
