  We loved the ambience! There was a young man playing the sax right under our window when we arrived and it was magical. When we entered the room there was a wood smell from the fireplace. It was heaven!   What a classic! I loved it and felt that I was a part of the real Victoria that many never see. The quiet location within walking distance of the downtown and transit to the rest of town was great. This gave me a chance to walk down the wonderful staircase admire th - Firstly, one needs to compare the day rate between the Empress and the Inn. The Empress is only a few blocks away, free parking, free wi-fi, also doesn't have air conditioning....and is almost $300 more a day. As I didn't need to spend a lot of time in my room, the size didn't matter. However, security and cleanliness was key and the Inn met those very well. The restaurant is excellent.
