Surrounded by vineyards and offering lovely countryside views, Owl Head Lodge features an outdoor swimming pool and BBQ facilities. Gulgong town centre is an 8-minute drive away. A selection of cottages and apartments is available that offer a flat-screen TV, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. Some include full kitchen facilities and a BBQ. Others have an outdoor patio with lovely mountain views. Guests staying on the main property receive a free light continental breakfast each morning that consists of cereals, toast and juice. There is a variety of cafés surrounding the off-site apartments. Owl Head Lodge is 9 minutes’ drive from Gulgong Pioneer Museum and Prince of Wales Opera House. Cudgegong Gallery is 21 minutes’ drive away and Thistle Hill Vineyard is 25 minutes’ drive.

This was a very special stay, about 5 km away from Gulgong. There were just 3 chalets and we were the only guests. So we had the whole place to ourselves. We enjoyed beautiful sunsets, sunrises, the clear sky at night and the millions of stars, also the birds came right up to our door. The pool was refreshing. We loved the shower, which was so different, as like the bedroom, it had glass on 2 sides and you could see the countryside.

The glass house was a real surprise. I liked the expansive views, the pool was a welcome relief on the 39+ degree days of my stay. There were ample supplies of DIY breakfast items. The bed was nicely presented and a delight to sleep in. The premises were clean, well appointed and well presented. The location was quiet, but was not far from 'civilisation'. Excellent base for exploring the region. Loved the decor . privacy and peaceful setting. You have put a lot of thought into people's needs . We wish we were back there now. beautiful quiet location, all glass walls, clean, TV/DVD was good. Continental breakfast supplied. Did not meet any staff. Everything - the location, peace & quiet, scenery, sunshine, privacy, serenity, facilities, furniture and pizza oven!. The setting was perfect, quiet and peaceful. The bed was very comfortable with good quality bed linen. Slab cottage has everything you need, they have thought of everything. Very relaxing. the unit, its Decor, the surrounds, the room layout and comfort. Clean lovely facilities, excellent country accommodation. Location. Generally very comfortable. Good bed.. We loved the whole place is what magnificent. Studio was quite quirky with open views across the fields. Slightly remote, but I guess not a bad thing. Use of glass was a positive in most respects, but a little off putting with a ground floor shower with clear glass panelling to the outside world. The apartment was nice and bright. I think I would have preferred, if someone had been there at reception, at least for a short while when we arrived. Because this lodge is outside of the town proper, it could be a deterrent for folks that want easy access to town and eateries. But if you want more privacy and wonderful grounds, this is the place. The shower temperature was difficult to control.The shower head allowed only fine needles of water out which hurt/stung delicate areas of the body. There was no sink in the kitchen. I was in a studio. Had to wash dishes in the bathroom basin since no kitchen sink. nothing. Although breakfast provisions were to be provided in tariff there was no bread and also the water did not taste good and left horrible stains in the cups when boiled. This spoilt an otherwise great facility. letsbookhotel.com advertises the 2 bed cottage as having a private pool - there isn't one. There is a pool for all the units in the complex although it is a 10-15 min walk from the slab cottage. Also the gas pizza oven wasn't at the cottage as advertised - it's down by the pool which made it difficult to get the pizzas back up to the house - we had to drive back and forth balancing the pizzas. that there was no bread for breakfast. Bread can be kept in Freezer or fridge with spreads and I think there should be fresh milk not UHT. Millions of tiny bugs 1st night, none the second night. Please provide Insect spray. Toaster provided, no bread ?? Lack of one at least comfortable chair inside. That we had to leave :). The fact the room was not services during my 4 nights. Bins not emptied and bed not made up. At a cost of $140 you'd have expected that and to be fair the impression of the room was somewhat tainted because it wasn't maintained. I was expecting country views but this apartment was in the town centre :(.
