Rooms were spacious and beds were comfortable. Staff were helpful. Lovely outlook over banyan trees and sweet night twitterings emanated from the birds nesting in the banyans as we slept. Great location for Volcanoes National Park and Rainbow Falls and Akaka Falls. We did all 3 in one day. Beautiful walk in the gardens opposite the hotel.

The hotel doesn't get very good reviews so we were a little
skeptical about staying here. We were surprised to find the hotel
clean, comfortable, in a great location (wished we had booked for
2 days instead of 1),staff was very friendly and the renovations
were beautiful. Breakfast buffet was very well done. Free parking
was a bonus!

This is a great resort! The units are spacious and well equipped. They even have electric blenders,beaters and an ice bucket and numerous bbqs. Luxuriously appointed apartment on first floor (not ground). Large sitting room and balcony. Beautiful tropical garden setting. Free garage parking. Immaculate swimming pools nearby and hot tubs. A short drive from restaurants and supermarkets.

Yes, the place is old and run down, but if you're looking for a clean, budget-friendly place, it's fine. Great shower. We got a free upgrade to a room with a king-size bed, so that was very nice.

The location is very good and on the beach which could be dangerous due to high currents but is very nice when the water is calm. The rooms are huge and kept clean. They offer free breakfast (some pastries, bananas, juice, coffee, and tea) which is very convenient to start a busy day on Kauai. We liked our stay in Sands hotel and will definitely go there again.

The location was great for access to Volcano National Park. The tour of the on-site lava tube was great. The setting was beautiful. Breakfast first day seemed kind of limited for kids but realized Shannon thought is was for two adults. Once she found out I was traveling with my daughter she put out "kid-friendly" options. EVERYTHING!! the cottage was extremely quaint, peaceful and private. it felt very homey and comfortable. landscape surrounding the cottages was quite magical. though it's near the main road, it wasn't noisy. the gardens were lush and green. A very friendly B&B in Pahoa, the innkeeper, Irene, was super
friendly and helpful. I was feeling ill the day I arrived from a week-
long cold, and Irene made me ginger tea immediately. I felt so much
better the next day. It's a motherly touch that a large resort
cannot replicated (which I stayed at before arriving at Lava Tree).
It's something so small as that that can change your entire vacation
and make it bettter. The home was clean and the breakfast was delicious.
