Breakfast was fresh and plentiful - gluten-free bread was supplied specially for me, which was much appreciated. Everything from the hospitality and lovely breakfasts to the well furnished comfort of the room. Tony made us very welcome with coffee and biscuits on arrival. He also gave us a map of the city and told us of things to see and places to eat. Dianas breakfasts well lovely and there was lots of choice. What a fantastic place to stay! This was a two night treat weekend at the races for my father in law and did he get a treat, as we did also! It was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was better than most top business hotels I have stayed in across Europe. The attention to detail in the bedrooms and the dining room was fantastic. George the owner is a lovely guy and the service is second to none.

Blown away by the plush, stylish apartment. We visited York with my parents & this 2-bedroom apartment suited us much better than two separate hotel rooms, as it provided a social space (kitchen, dining table, sofas and TV)
Incredibly convenient for walking to key places in York; train station, the Shambles, the Minster and, highlight of the trip for my husband, the National Rail Museum.
The lovely Heather at reception is also wonderfully helpful :)

The owners of the hotel were first class in all departments. I would stay again without hesitation, as everything fit the bill for my requirements. The city was just a 15 minute walk, the location was quite and peaceful, the cooked breakfast was as good as I have had on my travels. We really enjoyed our stay at the Ashbourne House. The room was fantastic and very inviting. The breakfast was very good and included many choices. Very friendly and warm welcome to the accommodation, and it was nice to receive an email from the guest house prior to arrival asking for any special dietary or arrival requirements. Room was spotless and very comfortable. Hosts are very knowledgable of the local area and happy to help. Food was excellent. The location is a ten minute walk to the centre of York and permits are provided to enable you to park outside the hotel. We had a downstairs bedroom with en-suite very comfortable and because the Farthings is situated in a quiet street this was a benefit of having a good nights sleep. The staff were very friendly and and were helpful in giving local information. The cleanliness of the rooms are spot on and they provided a wonderful menu for breakfast, we would definatley recommend this gem of

I stayed here while visiting my daughter who lives in York and I found this hotel to be lovely. The staff were helpful and friendly. At the bar the service was excellent and the breakfast (a buffet) had something for everyone's taste. The hotel was spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable.
