This hotel is the real deal, the venue is perfectly situated & all staff were attentive, polite & well turned out. The rooms are good & you get what you pay for. Food was excellently presented & close to fine dining. I highly recommend the hotel...it purports to be what it is & hits the target perfectly...very impressed. Warm welcome, with upgrade! Beautiful historic building, stylishly furnished. Sublime scones and jam!Dinner beautifully presented, with touches of brilliance. Friendly 4 star service without pretension, felt more like a private stately home than a hotel. Very hard to leave, will stay longer next time.

Brilliant - would not consider staying anywhere else. Relaxed, luxury hotel (but not 'stuffy') overlooking Ventnor. Lovely gardens with private views of the coastline. On site parking. Public areas were of a very high standard of interior design. location, past era charm , beautiful gardens, relaxing terrace/ veranda, casual yet excellent service, fine dining, varied clientele, all ages, charming pool area. Excellent service and food. Extremely comfortable rooms. Lovely, friendly atmosphere. Wonderful location. Secure parking. Fantastic location for easy access to all attractions on the island and only a few minutes walk to centre of Ventnor. Great location and setting, lovely gardens and close to coastal path with good walks. Good food. The staff, the flexibility of the staff, the food, the ambience, the views - just lovely. Food. Location. Location gardens attractive interior and exterior decorations views from bedrooms and public terrace was amazing. Calm relaxing atmosphere . - Restaurant - Friendly staff. Friendly clean hotel. Slight too hot at night - radiator in bathroom would not turn off. Parking spaces were a little tight. Fire alarm went off at 4 am resulting in a full evacuation! Broken nights sleep but at least it worked. hard pillows. Room rate was more expensive this trip but that was due to the coincidence of dates with the Isle of Wight festival. Very noisey central heating which came on at 7am every morning - not ideal for sleep-ins if you are a light sleeper. The hotel needs to get wifi into the rooms. Breakfast could be improved - by good bread, the ready sliced tasteless toast was below the standards of everything else (great cooked breakfast and tasty compote). Also by a cafetiere not the usual dull hotel coffee, and proper napkins not paper. Nothing to dislike. We would have li ke dsome more vegetarian options on the room service menu. only wifi in reception area not in rooms. Couldn't find any faults. Small room No room service after 9.00pm. Staff added nothing to visit they did what they were asked but seemed as if they needed training on interacting with guests smiling enhancing the customers experience etc. The atmosphere in the restaurant also let down the quality of the food it felt like sitting in a corporate dining room some backround music or change in lighting may helpOur waitress seemed afraid of guests! Our bedroom #34 smelt strongly of stale smoke. - Rooms have not been refurbished in a long time; were not as displayed on the website. No wifi in room.
