Set in the village of Temple Sowerby, The Kings Arms is a 15-minute drive from the edge of the Lake District National Park and is a 400-year-old former coaching inn. Both William Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge chose the Kings Arms as a starting point for their exploration of the Lake District in 1799.
An en suite bathroom, TV and tea/coffee making facilities are provided in each room at The Kings Arms. Guests can also relax in the residents’ lounge which includes a fireplace and a selection of board games.
Freshly prepared meals are served in the oak panelled restaurant, while informal dining can be enjoyed in the bar. A selection of daily specials are on offer and ingredients are locally sourced wherever possible.
The Cumbrian coast is less than an hour’s drive away, and the National Trust property of Acorn Bank Garden & Watermill is a 5-minute drive.

The Kings Arms was an excellent place to stay. The bedroom was large, very clean with nice comfortable beds. The manageress (Molly) was lovely and did everything to make our stay memorable. The food was excellent, breakfast was very well cooked and served in a very attractive dinning room. At night there was a nice fire in the public bar, and the staff were very pleasant.
Nothing to dislike. Very quiet village. Food brilliant and service efficient. Very clean. Not too far from the Lake District or Scotland for that matter. We shall stay there again and probably as an overnight stay on our journey to Scotland. We will definitley recommend the Kings Arms to our friends.wszystkie opinie »
Close to the M6, Penrith and Appleby and ideal for the north Lakes and surrounding area. A traditinal country pub with excellent accommodation, very nice dining room with fine food and good service, the Kings Arms is a great plcae to stay.
Liked the room and its spacious ensuite bathroom. Comfortable bed. We were going to a wedding locally - the kings arms recommended a local taxi driver for us. We didn't spend much time in the room other than sleeping!.
The staff were all exceptionally friendly and made our overnight stay a real pleasure. Food good, room comfortable. We'd certainly saty here again, if in the area, and may consider coming for a longer break.
The friendly welcome, the comfortable beds, the excellent breakfast ( best cooked and tastiest bacon I have ever had in a hotel!) We would happily send all our friends and family there!.
The hotel is situated in a beautiful area of the Eden Valley. It is a very friendly and welcoming hotel with a lovely bar with an open fire, excellent food and very nice rooms.
Room clean, tidy and comfortable.
Wide selection of food to choose from.
Food was very weel cooked, presented and generous portions.
Staff cheerful and approachable.
The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff were courteous and helpful. Evening bar meal was tasty, and breakfast the following morning was cooked to order.
It's a nice pub with decent rooms. Not a gastropub, not designer-ish but comfortable, quiet in a lovely location and a very friendly welcome.
We liked everything about the hotel and will definitely stay again. Would highly recommend the hotel to anyone that asks.
staff couldn't be more helpful. Food was very good and rooms lovely. Cosy and especially appreciated open fire.
Liked everything. All very helpful and friendly. Lovely country pub atmosphere and lots of laughter.
very comfortable friendly and relaxing.A nice olde but modernized feel and a really good breakfast. !!.
The staff and food were excellent, as was the location in the sleepy village of Temple Slowerby.
Nice room and facilities.
Food and drinks reasonably priced.

Friendly staff. Good food. Good value.
we loved our nights stay.
food,staff,ambience.
good food friendly.
There was nothing I didn't like about this place.
No net curtain at the window which was close to the road. Food (sandwich lunch and cooked breakfast) was nice but without a wow factor.
Nothing.
My mother and I liked everything about this hotel - so no criticisms at all!.
Nothing.
Bar was a little dated and the TV in the room small size.
Not much. No BBC channels ( no signal?)
Very quiet village with no shop. Car needed really. We were doing Leeds to Carlisle by train, but we didn't wish to stay in Carlisle.
can't think of anything negative.
Absolutely nothing!.
Some information on local walking would be helpful, especially as the Eden Valley is such a great location for this.
Squeeky headboard very annoying.
nothing.
Problems with the web site not showing the correct telephone number.
The food in the restaurant was disappointing - standard "pub-food" but lacking in flavour.
rooms a bit pricey.
late night noise.
