The Elder York Guest House is a lovely place to stay in Edinburgh! The location is excellent, walking distance to all attractions. There are road works going on, but these won't interrupt your stay and should be over soon. We were greeted on arrival in a friendly way and shown our very clean and spacious room, with bathroom ensuite. Our host offered an excellent recommendation for a pub for dinner. Paul and Deborah were excellent hosts - very friendly and informative. The room was clean and comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent. Room including breakfast was a real bonus. The hotel is in a quiet area but still only a short walk to city centre. I have already recommended staying at Abbey Hotel to my work colleagues.

Nice room, very comfortable single bed (maybe a bit small, my mum fell when she was rolling over) and very quiet.
Good breakfast with self serving coffe/tea, juice, cereal and yogurt. I had scrable eggs on toast, but you can get a full Scottish breakfast.
Staff very friendly. I'd like to stay longer to interact with them.

Eveything, the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was superb and the rooms were beautiful, once we had figured out where the twon centre was it was an easy walk an we throughly enjoyed our stay and will deffiantely return. - Staff were excellent. The location is good (ten minutes walking to the station and Princes Street), the room is spacious and clean, the reception open 24/7. Free WiFi is available in public areas and a simple but nice breakfast is included in the room rate. The central heating has worked just one day, but an eletric heater was in the cabinet so it was fine anyway. -

We were extremely surprised by the quality of the hotel considering we paid 119 for a double room. Staff were of 5* quality, attached bar is fantastic with good beer, good food and live sport on big screens. Bedrooms are great. Would not hesitate to return. Plentiful parking for free at weekend and a 15min walk to centre. -

The guest house is run by a very warm and inviting family. The breakfast is excellent, a good variety of cereals, hot food, fruit, yogurt and a seemingly endless supply of tea and toast! We were given great instructions on getting to the main part of the city and the room was comfortable and spacious with a spotless ensuite which was small but perfectly adequate for our needs. Having previously stayed in hostels when I have visited Edinburgh, this made a welcome change and I'm sure we will stay

Fabulous hotel. Staff were great, everybody was friendly and polite and went out of their way. Location is super, 2 minutes walk from haymarket station and 15 walk into Edinburgh city centre. Buses stopped outside the hotel to go to Princes street if you didn't fancy the walk. Food was good, we had breakfast and was lovely with lots to choose from. Didn't eat there otherwise but saw the food and it looked very nice. Rooms and beds clean and comfy. Great hotel.
