Was a bit unsure about this hotel after reading some of the reviews and
the fact a Chinese restaurant was attached to it. However the facilities
were excellent. Room was clean with fresh towels daily, breakfast
offered various choice and was presented well (my husband is very fussy
about his fried eggs but had nothing to complain about) I had thought
the smell of cooked Chinese food would be in the room but was pleasantly
surprised that this was not the case. The staff were friendly but not

We have stayed at the Churchill several times, mainly chosen for location to family we visit. But it is good value, good sized rooms, great Chinese restaurant and good English breakfast.
There was a problem with the shower, but the manager/owner went out of his way to rectify it, even though the hotel was full. The next day, when he should have been off, he came in to make sure we were moved to another room, which was actually bigger. They always give good service.
Friendly as soon as we arrived, we felt at home and wanted, room excellent and clean, we dined in the restaurant which was excellent and stayed in the bar in evening. Breakfast was good, with cereals and as much coffee, tea and toast as you like with your full English, We stayed there with our 23 yr old son for his birthday and on arriving was overwelmed by the decore of the restaurant. Congratulations, we shall definately go again. Thanks.
My partner and were very impressed with the room we stayed in and that every day the room was cleaned, the bed was remade and there was fresh clean towels provided, also tea/coffee etc were replenished daily, we wanted for nothing while we stayed, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast provided was freshly cooked every morning (no grease to be seen).
We have stayed at Churchills many times, firstly because it is near to where family live. But then because it's a good value hotel; very hospitable, great Chinese food in the restaurant and possibly the best Full English breakfast you will get. And the rooms, especially at the front, are larger than the average in a Brit hotel.
Staff were very efficient and the room was very nicely presented with toiletries and hairdryer provided.
The on site Chinese Restuarant was a real bonus and the food excellent - the best chinese food I have had..and very good value for money..Good breakfast and very fast and attentive service.
The hotel has a fantastic restaurant and the staff are very friendly. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds are very comfortable.Travelling alone I was made to feel very welcome. An example of how a family run hotel should be run. I would have no hesitation in staying again.
We have stayed many times at this hotel. Primarily because of its closeness to family we visit, but since then we stay because of the quality. The hotel is well decorated and maintained, the staff very friendly - and a great English breakfast.

What more do you want than to check in and within five minutes be able to sit down and eat in the Chinese restaurant attached to the hotel? I requested an early breakfast at 7am, a request that was willingly granted.
Staff were excellent and the room was v nice and large and felt good. The room furniture was a bit naff but generally very good and we will book there again.

Good Chinese restuarant and local bar, but you you wouldn't know it when in the room - no noise or cooking smells.

the hotel is ideally situated and the restaurant downstairs was superbly decorated. the whole experience was delightful with great tasting food.

The only negative was that people eating in the restaurant smoked at the
front of the building and you could hear them talking and laughing till
quite late - although this was only on the Saturday night when the
restaurant was busy. It would not put me off staying again and was
really to be expected.

Busy parking - had to use the main road but ok as managed to get outside the front of the hotel. Not sure of the parking policy but it would be good if GUESTS staying at the hotel got preference or parking permit over casual users.
Being nit-picking - lack of towel rail and a hook for dressing gowns in the bathroom.
The bath was badly sited in the en-suite and it was difficult to reach the taps and get in and out of. I was ok but it would be impossible for an elderly person.
