The staff were great, just couldn't do enough for you and the hotel
itself is a great mix of the old original house and newly built annex
with lots of facilities, including a bar, jaccuzzi (if the weather
allows), good size pool etc.Breakfast is also of a high standard with an
excellent continental selection as well as choice of hot options. The
breakfast room is a lovely location with comfortable chairs and soothing
background music being played, all getting the day off to a great start.

We arrived in Cape Town and had no where to stay and 51 on Forrest Drive where efficient and made our booking quickly and timeously and we were never disturbed when we were there and the food was delicious!

The Hippo is well-designed, clean, and in a great location. The room was super modern and cute! We loved having a nice little kitchenette (complete with a french press coffee maker). The rain shower and heated floors in the bathroom were nice as well.

It was an excellent location from which to explore Cape Town and the surrounding countryside inclsuding the Cape of Good Hope. It was also great to have a kitchen and the option to eat in instead of out - a real treat on a long trip. It was clean, the staff charming and we would certainly go back there again. Free parking too!

It was my second time at this hostel and I came back three years later because I liked it. Apart from it being excellent for what is officially a backpackers place I really appreciate the attitude of owners and staff who are supporting community projects and take recycling seriously, something that is still not very wide spread in South Africa. Excellent Sandwiches and breakfast.

This is a brand new hotel - open for just 2 months. Its location is on the fringe of busy downtown Cape Town, and is thus safe and secure, and within easy walking distance from all the major attractions including the popular VandA waterfront, and it is minutes away from the Convention Center. Staff eager to help us as we arrived early were leaving late and had to leave luggage at hotel. We were upgraded to double rooms with views of Table Top. A cheap taxi ride or walk from all the major city sites. Excellent breakfast included. Rooms spacious with all facilities. Compared with our hotel in Rio on the same trip and for the same price Townhouse was streets ahead. Can't wait to go back to Cape Town and when I do there's only one place I'll be staying - The Townhouse.
