It was a very pleasant stay at friends hostel. The one down side was that we had to move rooms after the first night due to noise on the bottom floor. Standing at the gates you can see both your hotel and the Kazansky cathedral - one of the most beatiful in the city. You don't need to use transport at all, unless going to suburbs.
