The room was a good size for the 2 of us.The bed was comfortable and had nice room controls for the lights on the headboard. I wanted to try out the sauna/spa which sounded intriguing with the aromatherapy mist room, however it was only open in the evenings. There is also massage available next to the sauna which had very reasonable rates but I didn't get a chance to try it. Our room rate included breakfast and it was much better than I expected. It included a wide variety of japanese breakfas.

Recommend the Heritage houses and pathway walk that takes you rounds the back of town past many small shrines ans along to the park.nice shops to buy gifts.taste of traditional Japan. Most staff were friendly and effective, one of them, Suzuki, was particularly helpful. Most of them could communicate sufficiently in English. There were good restaurants nearby. Conveniently located, close to the railway and bus stations. Free spa and sauna that I hadn't known when I booked made me surprise. Beds are very comfortable. Tripple room space and bed are enough for 2 adults and 2 children. If I come to Takayama again, my family agrees to stay here. The staff spoke English and went out of their way to make us welcome and comfortable. The room was spacious (we were upgraded) and charmingly appointed. The breakfast offered wonderful choice. The location near the train station and the city center was great. The trip to Shingowa the hotel advertised was great! The rooms were lovely and beds huge!. I have the same problem at Kyoto throught letsbookhotel.com. Luckly, both places managed to upgrade for a view throught my pocket or else my holiday will be very upset. I could not control room temperature. I just about boiled in my own sweat and did not get one wink of sleep. I was ignored when I went to use the Bijoux cafe restaurant for lunch and then they were serving only a private party for dinner. Should have put bigger signboard on the side of the road because town is a bit dark at night time. During our stay our room was (to) hot because the airconditioning was not in function. This might be a problem for the time of the year. With the window open we managed to get some fresh air. The western breakfast was not really good. the room is small and breakfast - we had better ones. nothing. All was very goodn, no complaints. the embarrasing smoking area in the garage. Prices in restaurant are expensive. Pillows were tiny - needed to ask for 2 more. no drawers for clothes in room. stayed 3 nights and had 3 breakfasts. the music at breakfast was really really horrible. no toast at breakfast. I'm not so impressed to the front officer. She looks not so friendly and welcome. Hard pillow made me had migraine.
