It's à very nice new appartment
full equipped for a family or couples, well designed in a warm and cosy way. It is clean and very pleasant. I loved the reach with books library and the relaxed sofa in the sitting room. Located in the center of all the famous castles, it is the perfect base for excursions. The owner, Mme Sichi is friendly and always eager to assist. She runs a gourmet restaurant just underneath, with unbelievable tastes! I fully suggest it !

Very charming chateau outside of Onzain. The chateau keepers could not
have been kinder or more accommodating. Our French was not strong at
all, and they very kindly helped translate a menu for us at a very nice
restaurant they recommended in the neighboring town to celebrate our
anniversary. They also called the restaurant to make the reservation

from our 2nd floor room was truly spectacular! And the breakfast they

I loved the Hotel. Very nice staff and very relaxing place
conveniently located next to the most famous Loire Castles. I will go
back. A great find!
The Loire castles are beautiful and visiting them is a pleasure.
I stayed 3 days but I could have stayed a week. So much to see.
Do not forget to visit the caves and do some wine tasting.

The staff was very friendly. We arrived on a Friday evening about 10
minutes after the hotel restaurant closed. However the clerk called over
and they still gave us a table and prepared a delicious meal. The

The large suite with two separate rooms was perfect for the family. The breakfast was great - very impressed. I would have loved to use the spa but didn't have time. A beautiful setting and perfect for exploring The Loire - we'll be going back.

Chateau de Portail was a wonderful experience and Claude Herbert was an amazing host. It was nice to be welcomed so warmly into his home with nowhere out of bounds. The house is charming, warm, comfortable and elegant with a relaxed feel to it thanks to Claude Herbert's hospitality. As a family with two young girls (aged 3 and 5) this can sometimes be an annoyance to other guests and the host but we never felt like this.
