Found a good restaurant called Hosteria, not expensive, good pastas in Cinq something area, near the Palais which is very beautiful and is now an art museum. (well there's a fairly busy road inbetween- ask for a room on the top floor) Walking distance to the center of Marseille or there's an excellent bus service just outside the entrance.
