To arive after a 5hour drive and be told that you have been upgraded to a spa room was the BEST EVERY,It was my BIRTHDAY. I loved all of it, the room was a great size, the meals at the resturont wear delish and great value for money, the staff wear polite and very helpful. Having a long day out then coming back to the room and soak in the spa, then just wall out the door over to the restaurant for dinner was the best did not have to go anywhere it was just all there. Hotel Marengo is just one of the best value for money accommodations along the Great Ocean Road. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. Our room was upgraded FOC, not sure why. The room was clean except for the carpet. The bed is very comfortable. We also liked the heater in the toilet which made it very pleasant to shower in cold weather. The lodge is also within walking distance to shops and restaurant.
