The view was fantastic. Hotel is conveniently located and so easy to
move around the city and nearby. Old Town Trolley, which is a convenient
way to go to the different attractions, stops right near the hotel side
entrance. Driveway, lobby, room and bathroom are all very spacious. Bed
and pillows are very comfortable. Our room was available upon arrival at
around half past 11 in the morning and we appreciated this very much.
The hotel has taken steps to be eco-friendly which is admirable.

For the money, this was an excellent choice for a budget. It was clean and you had everything you needed. All new linens every day and well maintained. Security on site in the evenings was a plus. The outdoor pool and hottub were also well maintained and a nice ammenity for the stay. I've stayed at hotels for triple the cost that were less well kept and less comfortable.

For a best western it has so much character, very nice design, nice to look at and rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained.
Nice pool area and fitness suite.
Lovely location in the Old Town, within a minutes walk of local restaurants and bars.
Easy to get to gaslight quarter on the trolley system.

The BW Hacienda is our main reason for visiting San Diego. Our return for a second vacation in SD this year was because we have found this central, traditional-style, good-value hotel in the Old Town. It was a very nice hotel. And so beautiful! We lived in a room with to large queen size. It was very spacious and a bit old fashioned. But in a good way. It was close to a big mall, which we really approved. We didn't have breakfast included, but there is a nice café in the area (the hotel is in a very big area and has a lot of rooms all over the place) that had good sandwiches and Starbuck coffee.

The following day, the day shift person came and replaced the temp gauge, and it worked just fine. I would stay there again.

Loved our stay. We live only about 30 mins. north of San Diego and try to stay at the West Gate at least twice a year. It is like being on a vacation even though we are residents. Absolutely love staying downtown. -
Very close to the Gaslamp quarter, this means many dining/drinking opportunities.

From the front desk staff to the cleaning crew, all the staff was extremely friendly and willing to help in any way. We especially enjoyed the people who helped with the complimentary breakfast. The hotel was centrally located so we were never more than 10 minutes from the things we wanted to do. I would definitely stay there again. -
