I like the style, frankly the ' class ' that The Carlyle and that the staff exude. I stayed many times at The Carlyle in the 1980's early 90s, indeed had my wedding there in 1998. I haven't been at all since for no negative reason but simply professionally I no longer visit NY, but expect to privately will do periodically going fwd. I liked it as much as I ever did with one minor caveat that I mention in the ' did not like ' box across.
I like The Carlyle 'cause it is The Carlyle and not 'cause its ' A Rosewood Hotel '. Just like I like other super prime hotels for being what they are, individually. Candidly I find the ' A Rosewood Hotel ' branding over-done and off-putting - sorry ! Rosewood says nothing to me. I do not like hotel chains - I do not want The Carlyle to be like The Lanesborough I want them to be individually the best in class and location.
The general and unspoiled traditional ambience. The bathroom was intelligently and luxuriously designed.
