  Had a three night stay at The Gotham Hotel and feel I received good value for the money. The room was large, clean, and well-appointed; I liked the added touch of an assortment of books in the room for guests. The room had a comfortable king size bed with nice linens and an up-dated bathroom with an over-sized shower. They also organised taxis - at a rate negotiated by the hotel which was cheaper than the regular taxi rate and stored our luggage (checkout time is the usual 12.00) and we weren't leaving New York until the evening.   Sentralt - The quietness. Like a retreat. Great food. - Staff were courteous and efficient. Checked in early but no rooms were available, they said they would call me when I could go to the room. They did. The room I got I didn't like (close to elevator door and TV not straight in from of bed). They upgraded me to quieter corner room.

We couldn't check in til 4pm but not a problem as we left our luggage there so we were able to start our tour of New York. After hours having to use your room key to get past the door security officer then also to make the lift work makes you feel safe.
