Our stay at Urban Holiday Lofts suited our needs perfectly! Our group of 3 flew into O'Hare to see a show at the United Center. We chose the Urban Holiday Lofts based on their amazing price and proximity to our venue. We easily found free parking on a secure street (no easy feat in the city) and fantastic places to eat before and after the show. The shared bathrooms could have been cleaner, but overall the facilities were well taken care of and full of character. We will certainly stay here aga.
alle vurderinger » The hostel was very new and cool. Decoration was great and hostel had all the services we needed. There was a organic market on the first floor which was great. Location was perfect too, nearby good restaurants and shops, and easy acess to transportation. Room was clean and matress were good. We've stayed as a family on a room for 4 with bathroom. Shared bathrooms were also clean and very private - it wasn't these hostels with many showers one next to the other. What a unexpected nice surprise. From the beginning to end, this was a great experience. The facilities were nice, staff was awesome. The location was great in terms of night life and closeness to CTA train. It was very enjoyable and I was pleasantly greeted by host I think his name was Ian. Made a great trip better. The location, the price and I was most impressed with the cleanliness of the facility. I had never stayed in a hostel before and was reluctant because of privacy and security issues. That was easily resolved with a private double room. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would most definitely book again. Almost everything. It's located in the city center, 5 minutes walk from a subway station (so 10 minutes from the loop). The neighborhood is really nice, safe with restaurant, bars, shopping around. The hostel is clean, quiet and the breakfast simple but good. The staff is very friendly, the location couldn't be better (safe, quiet, a lot of restaurants and pubs around it) and it's only a few walking minutes away from the subway station. There are three floors with many stairs and no elevators. The staff helped with the bags, but keep this in mind ig you have a lot of luggage. Breakfast was very ok, not the best I have seen in a hostel. One only thing, the noise from the air conditioning. Thin walls, but I had ear plugs so it didn't bother me. I had an issue. I was going for two nights with four friends in the first one and three in the second, so I made two different reservations at the same time. When I got there the guy who was working told me I could not stay there because They did not receive my first reservation from letsbookhotel.com, but they received my second one. At that time I didn't know what to do so the guy, quickly, helped us finding another place to stay during that night. The inclusive breakfast (cereal, bagels, peanut butter) was poor because (a) there was no variety (b) on 3 of our 6 mornings they ran out of milk and/or bagels and/or cereal (c) the bathrooms could have been cleaner. Only one coffee maker and it runs slow. Really, a minor issue and it did provide an opportunity to chat with other guests as I waited for the coffee to brew!. It's nice to be offered a morning breakfast, but cereal and toast/bagels gets old. Would be nice to get a hot breakfast a couple of days per week. bunkbeds...but we'll live with it, no big deal (not a surprise). none!. It was very cold (to me) and they didn't turned on the heater. The blanket was thin so I got a cold. Room was rather hot. May have been our fault, however. Only two bathroom/showers on second floor where we stayed -- slight inconvenience trying to get a shower in the morning. But this was a very minor detail. "Continental" breakfast consisted of cereal and bagel (not very continental). Again, not a big deal. 1. The common place should be open until midnight. 2. No elevator :(. Walls are paper thin and was woken up in the morning hearing people talking and walking around, our room was without A/C, was warm. A bit cold room in November, but there were extra blankets there so it was ok. Not so close to downtown, although is very near from metro. For their price, the breakfast could be better. The lockers are not very good, there is not so much space to charge your computer/cellphone, there is no light available in each bed so that you can read at night. Married couple, booked private room three months in advance but given room with single bunk beds! Asked to be moved and ended up in a room with no window, mirror or proper lighting! Overall it was a pretty nice hostel though so not really complaining. very rapid stairs. Make sure you book on the top floor. No insulation and wood floors makes it incredibly noisy until all hours if someone is above you. Uncomfortable beds. Nothing. very small lobby, no clear entrance to the hotel, its always loud and poor isolation, Shared bathroom is a poor idea. too small and urban for families. noisy nights from the outside. Staff were less than friendly An additional bathroom to share would have been useful. it is a youth hostel, we did not expect to have share bathroom with no soap and not cleaned every day We first were in a 2 bed rooms but they change us to a double bed Breakfast is very poor Noisy AC and street It is way to expensive for the comfort it offers. Complete dump of a hotel with no ammenities. They are going for a hostil type of environment and missed big time. No phone nor TV in the rooms, common area shower and toilet. Had a big rain storm and had water rolling down the interior walls. Bed consisted on a hollow tube bunk bed with no support at all. Nowhere near the picture you/they represented on line when booking. Wish i could get my money back!!.
