  The staff were amazingly helpful and accommodating. We arrived way too early but they made the room available and for us anyway. We checked out on the last day but were allowed to keep the car on the car park so we could enjoy the rest of the day in York without having to pay to park in the city. Room very clean with biccies and chocs on the tea - Everything from the hospitality and lovely breakfasts to the well furnished comfort of the room. Tony made us very welcome with coffee and biscuits on arrival. He also gave us a map of the city and told us of things to see and places to eat. Dianas breakfasts well lovely and there was lots of choice. The room was comfortable, clean and well furnished with everything you could need, including a fan which was well used as the weather was very warm.We had room 4 with a four poster bed. Although t

  Had a great stay at Burswood Guest House, the attention to detail was first class, down to dressing gowns, slippers, chocolates and real napkins (not the usual paper serviettes) The breakfast was excellent a great selection of fruit and a lovelly cooked breakfast. There was a bus stop nearby which took the strain of parking in the city centre away... hva folk sier » and a great pub nearby. It was a pleasure to meet the owners, George and Maureen, they ensured we had a comfortable stay. - What a fantastic place to stay! This was a two night treat weekend at the races for my father in law and did he get a treat, as we did also! It was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was better than most top business hotels I have stayed in across Europe. The attention to detail in the bedrooms and the dining room was fantastic. George the owner is a lovely guy and the service is second to none.

  We were amazed! Not wanting the formality of a hotel and having stayed in luxury apartments in coastal resorts for our summer holidays we thought we would try The Lawrance. Only two words can described our feelings when we unlocked the door - absolutely fabulous! The location is brilliant, only five minutes walk from the station and just a litt... hva folk sier » le longer into the city with its shops, restaurants and tourist attractions. I would not hesitate to recommend this to any friends or relatives wanti - Blown away by the plush, stylish apartment. We visited York with my parents & this 2-bedroom apartment suited us much better than two separate hotel rooms, as it provided a social space (kitchen, dining table, sofas and TV) Incredibly convenient for walking to key places in York; train station, the Shambles, the Minster and, highlight of the trip for my husband, the National Rail Museum. The lovely Heather at reception is also wonderfully helpful :)

  Pleasant terrace in a quiet street. Not far at all from York rail station but I didn't realise this at the time so I got a taxi to take me to Briar Lea. [He did grumble a bit!] Once the owner had explained the location, I enjoyed walking the 10 mins along the attractive riverside path into the city. I know British b&bs and hotels very well so... hva folk sier » I'd asked for a room with a window that would actually open and/or a fan and - given the unusual heat wave while I was there - I was really appreciat - The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our trip was to go to the races and it was great that the owner and other guests shared that interest. The breakfast was very good and although the room and bathroom were quite small it was very clean and perfect for a short stay. The location is great as within a short walk along the river you are in the centre and the railway station is very close too. A parking spot was provided which is a godsend.
