Loved the comfortable mix of modern and traditional; state of the art bedroom with giant flat screen, but with deep traditional Victorian style bath. Comfortable furnishings. Superb modern walk in shower and appreciated the double sinks.
Like the feel of the hotel, that it was a bit of a 'warren', not clinical corridors with endless doors. Liked the fact you have a proper key, not a card for your bedroom.
Very comfy lounge and bar areas. Nice formal dining without being stuffy. Helpful staff.

The bed linen and towels are lovely, very luxurious and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious, especially the freshly squeezed orange juice. The hotel is close to the city centre, around a 10- 15 minute scenic walk. There are restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. Walking distance to the train if minimal, easy to manage luggage. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, it is very beautiful.
!0 minute level walk into town. Parking was not an issue.
Staff were very chatty but always professional and efficient.
Great dual aspect, well thought out room in the annexe.
On this occasion we did not use the dining facilities, but we will be returning and will definitely try the Bistro and some of the amazing wines they have to offer.
My wife and I were upgraded to a superior room due to the fact that the
company I work for have a discount offer with our local Hotel Du Vin in
Poole which even though the York branch could not honour they were
still prepared to do something, even without any proof of employment.
Many thanks.
Good breakfast included for the price we paid. Staff were extremely kind and helpful. Close to the centre and railway station. Nice decor throughout the Hotel, very modern. Good tea/coffee making facilities. Powerful shower. Extremely comfortable beds.
We were happy with the location, hotel room and the bathroom was very nice and modern. We ended up eating at the hotel one evening and the food was very tasty. All the staff we encountered were helpful and friendly.
Very nice fixtures and fittings around the hotel, big rooms with superb shower & roll top bath, ample parking, very friendly helpful staff. A very memorable pleasurable stay. I would recommend it to anybody.
Room well prepared and spacious. It was what I expected at this end of the market. The member of staff I had most contact with on reception (female) was very helpful when I had an air con issue and no milk !.

Good bar with excellent range of drinks.
Well located just 10mins walk into town.

Michelle the receptionist was fantastic nothing was too much trouble, and went out of her way to help,.
It was a lovely hotel with a luxury feel. The rooms were decorated to a high standard and had all the mod cons you'd need. Staff could not be any more helpful.
Quality of the attention of staff particularly at reception excellent
Quality of the fittings first rate
Touches such as Nespresso Machine and fresh milk.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Dinner in bistro was very good. Really liked the quirky character of the hotel. Location excellent for shopping in York.
After travelling Europe for 2 months, we finally found a decent
bathroom. Huge shower head that has excellent pressure. Large Room.
Comfortable Bed.
the decor is excellent and is a little bit of luxury. The lounge areas are a peaceful haven. I would always chose the du vin wherever I am able.
Room was beautiful, also surrounding area, gardens etc were beautiful. Hotel all in all was very well maintained, with good customer service.
Beautiful room - stayed in superior room which had an unbelievable bathroom, huge bed and great coffee machine!
Bar area was also lovely.
Totally fabulous hotel. Excellent friendly staff. Hidden bars with lots of room to relax.
We will return to this hotel again and again.

Thought the wine list way over-priced.
We thought breakfast was included but it wasn't made clear enough that a cooked breakfast came at a surcharge, so we ended up paying extra for it.
We loved the hotel but we did think it a little over-priced and would be pushed to find the cash to go there very often.
Only stayed one night!.
While we were seated in the courtyard area of the hotel there was a
continuous stream of cleaners and kitchen staff wheeling the linen, the
rubbish and all kinds of domestic cleaning equipment past us as we were
trying to relax. Also we weren't ever asked to sign for any drinks
from the bar, it was just given to us on our departure.
The bath sits really high, which was an issue for my gran. Even I had trouble getting in and out of it. The tv was tiny for the room, had to turn up the volume to hear it. No lift facilities for my gran's mobility, although we just had to climb up one flight of stairs as we contacted the hotel prior to our stay. No clothes hooks behind the bathroom door to hang our towels/clothes up - minor issue but something they could consider doing.
A little too pricey, but they say "you get what you pay for".
the room did not have a fan to improve air circulation;
the waitstaff seemed baffled when i asked for the restaurant's specialty dishes based on local foods, ie. what did they feel were the best prepared dishes to recommend.
We stayed at the front of the hotel and the passing traffic was noisy. Also you could hear people flushing the toilet in the next room. Also it is definitely not a family friendly hotel.
Service at Breakfast and Lunch very slow
Paying for parking given the room rate
Breakfast not included
Bar prices outrageous!
No gym.
Breakfast service a bit disjointed. Toast cold by the time cooked breakfast is brought, also breakfast served before cereal dishes etc removed and leading to unwanted clutter on table. Minor complaint though given overall excellent stay. Will definitely return.
A bit over priced. A bit of a walk to town.
Can be a little expensive.
Air conditioning in room was the worst I have experienced to date. Sleep was very limited for both my partner and myself as room was so hot.
I suppose it was a couple of minutes too far away from the town centre but I am nit-picking.
The steak was not good at all at being just 10mm thick.
Stairs to deal with...but staff was available to help with luggage.
The only thing which was abit much we thought was paying an extra £10 for parking our car on the hotel carpark. Surely this could be included in the price of your stay!!!.
The price.
Sharp corners on wooden bed frame capable of causing injury. This was pointed out to reception.
Breakfast an expensive extra.
Being charged £10 to park & not being informed of this until I checked out.
nothing really, all good.
I dont understand why the car parking is chargeable..to me for the price you pay i think it should be free or included in the price.
Pipes had air in them and were noisy, bu issue was resolved promptly.
we were not part of the main hotel although we could have upgraded - the food was good but not excellent.
Mini-bar in the room did not function and started to smell a bit by the end of the weekend. The room was also quite hot although the outside temp was moderate. The air-con did function, but kept turning off (or was turned off by the house-keepers) making for a couple pretty uncomfortable nights.
We ordered mussels asked for remake and then complained again. They
took one off the bill but because we weren't happy we had to ask
for the second to be taken off as well. This should happen without
question if you are not happy with your food. Especially if it's
sent back twice.
Service evening in the restaurant.
Slow. Tending to Christmas party and late being seated to table booked for 8:45.
At this price, breakfast should be included.
Wine tasting room wasn't open.
Cost, a bit overpriced.
The risk of there being no parking spaces allocated despite there being one for every room which i believe is being addressed.
Reception was a little slow.
We at in the Bistro one evening, my husband had a steak which was nothing special and did not reflect the £26 price.
Had a meal at restaurant and was very disappointed with main course. I
suppose it's unfair to judge on one meal but the staff did listen to
my complaint and I received a reduced bill.
Decor a bit tired looking in parts.
still waiting for an email response to my query regarding .breakfast was ok but what about the cheese and continental meats non existent.
Overpriced as room rate didn't incorporate breakfast which the additional cost was way over the top ! A short walk from hotel would get you a decent cooked breakfast for a quarter of the price !.
No full length mirror in bedroom. £10 per day car parking charge.
Had issues with the room but we were dealt with, very professionally.
