It was our first time in the Lake District and The Coppice was situated within the perfect location to explore both Windermere and Bowness on Windermere (a ten minute walk from either town). The hotel was cosy, clean and comfortable. Rooms were of a good size and nicely decorated. We opted to pay extra for the room with the spa bath and it was certainly worth it after a hard day out trekking – pure relaxation! alle vurderinger » It couldn't have been better! Barbara and Chris are perfectionists in all they do. We stayed in a family room with our 2 pets which was perfect for us. Loved the decor and especially the nice touches of bone china teacups in the room. The welcoming sherry was perfect. A short walk into Winderemere to restaurants, And a quick car trip to Bowness to other water activities. Did not use the spa but it was nice to know it was there. Would definitely return and Chris says he's converting family rooms. Best Breakfast I had in uk for the 2 weeks I was there.Also the owners were the Best.I Was travelling to uk for the first time and after I left The Coppice , 30 minutes into the travel to my next destinaton my gps broke and I panicked a lot.But I returned back to Coppice and owner Chris helped me a lot.He took me in his car around the city and made sure I got a new gps .Without him I dont know what I would have done on a Sunday when almost everything is closed in Lake District. Thanks Chris.You. Very friendly owners. Very attentive-told us about the area. They even made us bacon butties as we had an early start. Rooms were a little old fashioned but everything was co-ordinated and spotlessly clean and decor was in keep with the building. Nice little touches like dvds in room and even cotton wool buds! 5/10 min walk to Windermere and Bowness and free parking on-site. Breakfast was lovely. Would definitely stay at The Coppice again. This was our second stay at the Coppice this year which says it all really !!!! We stayed in room 5 with the spa bath the rooms are very clean and have everything you need !!!! The coppice is excellent for those whom want to get away and relax in a private environment! The breakfast was excellent on both days even on the Sunday when Chris and Barbara were away and had staff taking care of things !!! We will deffo be booking for March. Location is ideal for both Windermere and Bowness. Friendly yet professional staff, clean rooms and tasteful. Breakfast choices were winderful even for a vegan like me. Also the icing on the cake is the day pass for Macdonald Spa, a perfect choice when its raining! A beautiful gem!. This is the best B&B that we have stayed in. We have no hesitation in highly recommending this facility. The owners were helpful and were the only ones on our 7 week trip to the UK to show us to our room and explain where everything that we required was and how to operate it. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Breakfast delicious (scrambled egg & salmon is to die for). Room clean and comfortable. Quiet and relaxing location but only 10 min walk to shops and lakeside. Breakfast was only served between 8.30am and 9.15am which didn’t leave much of a window if you wanted to be out early or fancied a lie-in!. I would prefer bigger towels. One small thing, the en-suite was a little on the small size. The shower room on the small side. no hooks for hanging clothes in bathroom. Breakfast was very quiet. A radio or BBC breakfast on TV would of broken the silence. My sat nav didn't seem to want to help finding the Coppice Hotel so had to revert to the tried & tested method of asking what appeared to be a local inhabitant & as I only left the Lake District in 1957 she was able to understand my accent. So success. I liked everything. The ensuite facilities were a bit cramped but this was not really an issue. Our room was at the top of the house with four flights of stairs to climb. It would have been better to have been advised of the location of the room before booking. Bathroom was very small Breakfast time finishes to early.. Nothing. Wi-Fi not very good. No air conditioning. perhaps not to be expected in a guest house/b&b but a small fridge would have been handy. En suite facilities small in our room, OK for us on this trip,but if backpacking or indulging in energetic pursuits would have needed a bath as well as shower. Bed could have been more comfortable, but at home have a fully adjustable orthopedic bed so am probably spoiled and not a fair judge. the room was a bit small and very hot. Too large a washhand basin in a small en suite, didn't leave much room and a large person would struggle. Bedding was too much and heavy. Lack of friendliness towards guests from the owners although being allowed to enjoy our break was appreciated. Nothing we disliked. nothing. The en suite was tiny and I would have preferred bath to shower. The fact that we couldn't stay longer but we will be back. Thanks. nothing. Toilet and shower far too small. Bedroom decor needs updating, definitely to a more relaxing colour than the current yellow / orange. Wi-Fi slow. having to ask for towels for the room. Wi-Fi doesn't work. Tablets, iphones etc connect okay to the Coppice Wi-Fi router, but it lacks the bandwidth to even check emails. If the Coppice is paying an Internet Service Provider for this they are being ripped off!. Nothing. the bed was slightly soft for my back. more the location of the coppice which did not suit us, but that was our fault for not finding out the guest house location when we booked. Prefer blankets to doonas. I would like somewhere to eat take away meals, but understand the problems this could bring. Decor was a little dated for our tastes but this is a minor complaint. A small crack in the wash basin in en-suite.
