  Although the hotel is undergoing renovation it had no impact on us as guests. The rooms were very comfortable and exceptionally clean. The tea and coffee provided in the rooms was plentiful which I think was brill as I have stayed at other hotels where this is limited. The en suite bathroom was very nice and the water always hot. Perhaps it would be wise to tell cl - From the moment we walked into the entrance into the lounge area, we knew we would like our stay at the Royal, as it had a luxurious and welcoming feel about it. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the room was spacious and comfy and the decor was well thought out - we loved the room! We even tried to book in for an extra night - but the hotel was full.   The self contained apartment had everything a family with children could need, including gardens to play in (complete with guinea pigs!). The owners clearly paid attention to detail when stocking the apartment with household items etc. The price was exceptionally reasonable. The building is full of character and the breakfast perfect. I was given a tick sheet the night before to place my breakfast order so I knew exactly what I was getting. Nice touch.
